Ok , yeah you got me. This type of talk always makes my two hairs stand up on my head.
Funny how you guys never believe in any deep state (by whatever name), yet there are multitudes of instances where a tiny number of players have effectively taken over countries.
Not the rioters in the streets, but a relative handful and working in secret, until the trap is sprung.
My default position is to not believe in something, until proof of said thing is presented.
Do you have an example of a modern day first world nation deep state org coming to fruition to take over a country?
Serious question. It’d be interesting to look at.
Dude, you don’t have to convince me, I’m watching it unfold in real time.
A second-in-command of the Russian mob with the help of a lawyer couple close to POTUS and a conservative “investigative reporter” hijacked US foreign policy for what is a paltry sum.
That same mobster used an once distinguished senior citizen with declining mental faculties to film a bizarre conspiracy “documentary” knowing that each of the lines uttered in said project will be repated verbatim by the sitting President.
Quite disturbing when you think of it.
How modern?
Post invention of the internet? Idk I’m not particularly sold on any line in the sand regarding a time. Mostly wondering if a deep state “coup” (lol) is possible in a first world country in the information age.
I keep being told it’s both possible, and happening today, ofc. I just don’t buy into nearly as much fear mongering as the people I talk to.
I was specifically referring to the idea of a deep state in America often trumpeted by far right Republicans. I don’t think evidence exists of such a thing but would be curious to specific information that would enlighten me.
It’s a ruse since they are the real deep state.
Like the Founding Fathers?
With the people I talk to that believe in it, I genuinely think the majority of the deep state talks come from decades of GOP excuses for why they can’t seem to exercise their will despite crazy majorities everywhere.
The party typically sees the best results when running on a platform of fear. Why do you think the birther movement was so effective.
Historically, the right wing has been the one to advance conspiracy theories. You could even say it has a tradition of that type of thinking.
Yeah, it’s a regular vast right wing conspiracy to advance conspiracy theories.
etc.
The truth is, any group of people who perceive themselves to have lost political power is susceptible to conspiracy theories, right or left. There are ample studies on this.
How would you define 1st world country? Most countries that undergo coups sort of fall out of the group of first world country candidates. Cause and Effect is sort of tenuous.
I’d add that a coup by small groups of insiders is often going to be accompanied by and driven by some type of widespread civil unrest or military action (ie. the founding fathers).
Yeah, 2018( one year ago) shows an historical trend.
Jewbacca gave a lot of evidence. You just made an empty accusation.
Evidence of an historical trend? That would be a no. Now, had he mentioned Joseph McCarthy, that would be different…oh wait.
Articles from Power Line, NY Post and National Review are “evidence”? LMFAO.
Oh I think both sides do it just the right tends to let the crazies get a bigger audience. Like Alex Jones and Glenn Beck being on Fox with a chalkboard connecting Obama to shooting JFK or some shit.
You know, some things aren’t political. The phenomenon of susceptibility to conspiracy theories exists outside of political realm, and applies equally.
Go ahead and be ignorant. It should really help you in life.
