I can never understand why liberals are against gun control.
We don’t want the government listening to our phones, pushing a religion, making abortion illegal, half of us want to end the drug war, telling who to marry whom… but we want them to take our guns.
Never quite made sense to me. People are often very surprised when they hear my stance on gun control, but what guy really thinks that guns aren’t cool?

And what does banning abortion have to do with gun control? Let’s see, me shooting bad guy and protecting the innocent and ending an innocent life. What’s the problem here?
I see you missed the whole point of a ban being ineffective when the demand is there. It just shows that these people don’t care what works or what is logical, just that the things they like are not banned, and the things they don’t are.
“These people”? Whatchew talkin’ 'bout Willis? It’s not about banning things we like or don’t like. Self defense is a basic human right. That’s the beginning and the end of the logical argument.
The right to control your body is a basic right as well. But you don’t like it when women attempt to exercise it in order to do something you don’t like. Period.
Thank for admitting you don’t know, you should probably stop there. And at the rick of sounding extremely cliche, you won’t catch me bringing a knife – or a taser – to a gunfight.
Glad you mentioned this. The McCarters of this world see the divorced mother of three or the 82 year old great grandfather resisting a home invaders armed with Louisville Sluggers and guns with…knives.
The McCarters of this world see the citizenry of this country resisting a tyrannical government with…stun guns and tasers.
The McCarters of this world see my 110 lbs. wife traveling alone on the interstate and stopping at night at a rest area and defending herself against three knife wielding would-be rapists with…an asp.
The McCarters of this world rode the short bus to school every single day their teachers discussed how to properly use logic in future arguments.
Yeah, you’re right push, I should’ve said…WAIT! I did say
“Now of course it’s a little silly to say ‘defend yourself, but you can’t use guns’,”
And of course you intentionally missed the whole point. “I keep pitchin’ ‘em and you keep missin’ 'em!”
The fact is, you don’t necessarily need a gun, but…whatever. You won’t get it. Rights mean nothing to you if they’re not yours.

Nor was that the point. Did you just learn to read?

I have no fucking clue what your point was. You started rambling about abortion and I still can’t figure out how that fits in with this. Did you just learn to write? Everyone says you’re still a student, but I assumed it was college, or at least high school.
Well then you should have just said so. The point is, I’m tired of conservatives on here always harping on and on about “rights” when they have no problem violating people’s rights when they don’t like what they do with them. Abortion is an excellent case in point. It also demonstrates the futility of such an endeavor, which they will refuse to admit, because somehow it’s “different.”
Moreover, I wrote this ealier:
“Now my point here was not to start another thread on abortion, but only to illustrate the absurd logical knots that people are willing to tie themselves into to avoid thinking about things.”
Do me a favor. Next time you have a problem understanding a post, read it.

What absurd logical knots. You have to intelligently explain your reasoning. You have yet to do this. Now begone.

Because your average liberal isn’t a liberal Irish, they’re socialists that want the government to control everything.
I’ll say this one to the abortion folks, if I could have conclusive proof that the fetus at X time was only some piece of useless tissue, I would say abortion is just fine. but every bit of evidence I have seen over the last thirty years shows more and more that it is life.
Studies of twins in the womb with US show interaction, behaviors such as plying, comforting, and teasing, MUCH EARLIER THAN PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT. Also recent studies are showing fetal memory. I did not see the news report, but heard it announced briefly. Also, the DNA is the same in the fertilized egg as when you are 100 years old.
All this points to the direction for me is that that little thing is alive. Also, the growing fetus meets the definition of life from a good ole biology textbook.
And this still has nothing to do with gun bans pro and con. this Ryan is the opposite of the guy born on third base and thinks he hit a triple. He was cut from Little League, but he thinks it’;s because he was to good.

I almost agree with all of that. I guess I’m pretty liberal too.

… at the risk of going off topic …
No, but liberals are generally for speech control (think PC-ism and “you CANT SAY THAT”-ism), income control (taxation and more taxation), healthcare control (forced taxes to medicare and pushing state healthcare which everyone is forced to pay for), retirement control (forced payment of SS), banking control, safety control, money control, business control, regulation and market control, and land-use/environmental control, so really, it does fit a pattern.

Although I don’t think that “political correctness” qualifies as “speech control,” I know what you’re getting at.
But normally with social issues it’s the GOP that wants to tell people how to fuck and when to do it, and liberal saying “hands off.” Hence why it doesn’t make sense.
