Question for the group: why is only social spending met with the question “how ya gonna pay for it?” and not the military(wars, etc.)
If I remember correctly, didn’t it have to do with something about the military?
I work in the aerospace defense industry as an engineer.
- Military spending is questioned more than any other individual program.
- Military spending is an actual approved use tax dollars.
- It’s like 10% of total federal expenditures.
The interest we pay on our debt is almost equal to the military budget.

The mark of a true patriot. You work in an industry that is partly responsible for building the weaponry that is used to kill 100’s of thousands. Congrats! So much better than trading currencies. Maybe you can look for a different line of work. You know, one that is less based on violence. Maybe you can trade currencies. i remember you said it was easy. Jump in, the water is warm. I have worked on aircraft that literally image the area so troops can move safely. I work on aircraft that protect your ability to live a cozy life. I have met men and women who have used the products I work on that have more balls in their pinky toe then in your sac that never dropped.
Nobody actually wants war. I have never met a veteran or anyone in my industry that does. But since it happens I want the most biggest, most powerful weapon available for defense.
What military leaders decide is not up to me, nor do I have to justify their actions. That’s not my job. My job is to keep the men and women in uniform as safe as possible.

What about this? There are roughly 750 US foreign military bases; they are spread across 80 nations! After the U.S is the UK, but they only have 145 bases. Russia has about 3 dozen bases, and China just five. This implies that the U.S has three times as many bases as all other countries combined. Quite astonishing

Are we defending ourselves? Is spending more than the next 9 countries combined a pre-requisite to defending yourself by some mythical invasion of the U.S. that will never happen?
