So you should be allowed to bring a firearm to school as long as it is unloaded & has no firing pin? Why was the kid with the GI Joe gun suspended? No one is concerned with his rights.

What precedent are we setting here: zero tolerance does not apply to everyone? [/quote]

Of course you should be able to bring an unloaded gun with no firing pin to school.

And I’d also completely support the teacher who freaks out over it and alerts the school admin, who calls the cops on whoever brought the gun too.

And I detest the zero tolerance policy because it makes no fucking sense. Because it leads to suspensions/explusions for grade-school children (1st grade I think it was? I forget) who go “bang bang! you’re dead!” at fellow classmates during recess.

Zero tolerance policies fail all the time:

Campus zero tolerance to accused rapists (who even when found not guilty get expelled)
Bullying in school where people sticking up for themselves against bullies get punished

That being said, this obsession with peoples rights to take unloaded guns to school seems bizarre. I would of thought the general attitude would be, keep guns the fuck away from school, as a matter of common sense policy.

if the briefcase was it,and what i read on another thread is true puts new spin on story
or people are trying to cloud the issue for their own purposes

the Probability of him being used to stir shit just went up
based on the picture i see why the police were suspicious

He is either stupid as fuck or he intentionally tried to cause a disruption. There is no other logical explanation. In this day and age, you should have enough common sense to know it is a bad idea to bring something that looks like this into a school. This is especially true if you are a muslim named Ahmed Muhammad or whatever. I don’t give a shit about the bigotry, racism, profiling, bull shit. This is a school full of kids.

I hate to agree with a dude on a bodybuilding site, from Alabama about race, religion and social discourse but I somewhat agree.

I agree with your thinking, because the kid’s reluctance to be forthcoming when questioned about this makes me wonder what is going on at his home.

And the school handled it right, by not calling the bomb squad and not evacuating the school.

Kids learn from what they see, especially by those closest to them, mainly parents, family members, and close friends. I would like to know what the family mindset about America and Islam is in the home. What are mommy and daddy saying about America, because a kid this smart cannot be this oblivious to the sensitivity of this issue.

If this kid was not muslim, he’d be in prison for bringing a hoax bomb to school.

As it his, his father is a muslim activist, and no doubt this entire thing was a set up from the start.

That sounds like a lazy bigoted conspiracy theory. And no, in the same situation a white kid would not have been arrested at all, never mind be in prison.

Well, except for the Asian guys who go crazy, you mean.

And the hundreds of black kids shot by other black kids that is somehow not newsworthy.

Careful, grind an axe too long and it becomes blunt and useless.

You can still cause great damage with a blunt axe, just requires an extra swing or two.

People take bomb scares pretty seriously, I’ve seen some pretty drastic measures taken for kids of all races. Cops also have certain protocols (many of which are stupid), once the cops were called for a bomb scare I’m sure they had to take somebody back. I’m shocked they didn’t close the school down or else. Since they didn’t, he should not have been arrested but his parents should have been spoken to. The first teacher is also an idiot. Like a cell phone in some schools, that should have been confiscated and picked up at the end of the day.

If his parents knew about it then it was a setup, any parent who can’t tell that looks like a bomb is a fuckn idiot.

Tell you what, you build this and take it on an airplane and these post back in 10-15 years about how it worked out for you, assuming your release conditions let you use the internet.
