Thanks! Statins on their own can cause rhabdo, so it is possible that taking niacin can increase that risk further. Regarding niacin, HDL and increased plaque formation, I would have to say the jury’s still out on this. Other studies show that it induces regression of atherosclerosis. And while natto is a natural source of K2 and the two have some overlapping benefits, natto has other benefits that make it worth taking. And yes, I do have some concerns with high doses of omega-3 and a-fib. I’m just not sure about how high the dose would have to be.
I have the vitamin k2 and coq10 of that same brand in the cabinet. Shipment of flameout it’s coming today I’m excited
I’m taking every one of those supplements.
TC,
Do you take your nattokinase with food? I was always under the assumption it should be taken on an empty stomach.
Also, I recently read a study linking excess Niacin to inflammation, and heart disease from the Cleveland Clinic. I tried to link, in case you haven’t read yet.
FWIW, I’ve always suffered from PVCs but in the past 6 months, they have become much more pronounced. Cardiologist started down the path of chemical solutions before I did a review of the supplements I currently take to see if there was anything contributing to the issue.
It’s earl stages (first week) but after reading about the potential impact of B12 on heart palpitations, I decided to stop drinking my daily spike during my morning workout. To isolate the potential caffeine role, I held steady the caffeine intake. To my surprise, the incidents of PVC dropped within the first 24 hours and have been almost non-existent since. Again, it is early, but I have read how B12 can create odd heart rhythms and, in my case, could be causing the escalating PVC symptoms.
PVCs are common but for a few of us, they can be a real challenge. I am fighting to find a way to alter that trajectory without the chems the cardio favors. eliminating B12 and adding the Natto is the current experiment. Good luck with the symptoms, not fun.
Good article. I’ve incorporated all into my supplementation regiment over the last few years.
Gotta say that Apple sauce with niacin recommendation did jack diddly squat in easing the niacin flush for me. It was just as terrible as it usual
Were you on Eliquis for Blood clot while on TRT. I’ve been off TRT for about 9 months. Found out I have factor v lieden and gotta stay on small dose eliquis forever . Doc said I could go back on TRT if I do sub Q and go to max dose eliquis. Trying to decide. Feel like total shit right now.
