Being a person who is naturally really broad shouldered, I fucking hate airplane seats, or bus seats, or theatre seats. It may also be because unless it’s a cute girl in it I like my personal space and hate making contact with someone while sitting for a long period of time.
It would suck to charge extra to someone just because of their genetics - some people ARE just naturally big.
I do have little sympathy for those people who REALLY let themselves go…the truly obese ones. Honestly, it’s so dissapointing for me as an american how many people just have this massive cognitive dissonance about their lives and their health. So many people just refuse to get it.
People who make or tolerate poor food choices dictate market forces and popularize food that isn’t healthy, and make it difficult for those of us to actually eat healthy. Why aren’t there any healthy fast food joints? Were there more actual demand for this stuff, perhaps it would be available and I wouldn’t have to cook so damn much. I mean, burger king’s entire strategy is to target the fatties who eat there multiple times a week, because those people are the moneymakers.
As a society, this is a huge problem. It is strictly NOT a good thing to be really fat (think over 25% bf), no matter what self-esteem boosting bullshit the schools want to feed you. Fat taxes on shitty food might actually be a decent solution to this problem, kind of like a sin tax - I think a lot of shitty food is purchased because it’s more economical. I think a better solution though is to subsidize or somehow encourage companies that make good efforts to develop natural healthy foods that are affordable.
