Talking Libertarianism

A murder involves a killing. But not all killings are murders.

Theft is a form of confiscation. But not all confiscations are thefts. Like taxes.

Moral discernment.

But you support the system that allows murder. how are you anti-murder when you support a system that allows so much of it?

Now that, my friend is a contradiction.

No, that’s moral discernment.

When I speak of murder I already take this into account. I’m talking about the unsolved, unconvinced murders on the streets of the inner cities. You support those?

No, it is obfuscation and rationalization unless you have any sort of argument to separate taxation from theft. I’ve repeatedly invited you to do this and you’ve refused.

I do have such an argument.

A cop shoots a guy “just because.” A killing, and also a murder. A cop shoots a guy approaching a lady with a knife, screaming “I’ll cut you up bitch.” That’s a killing

Taxation and theft are both confiscation. But only theft is theft.

Just good old fashion moral common sense.

Double, are you a fire fighter? Perhaps I’m thinking of someone else on these boards.

I mean, I said murder, period. So yes. I’m still not sure what you’re getting at.

There is a very clear concise definition of murder that excludes things like self defense for which there is well reasoned intelligent logic for. I’m not sure who you are arguing against.

Ok, but please explain why.

Murder, the evil immoral bad kind we both agree on, is largely allowed by the current system. If you support the current system why are you not responsible for those murders?

I was, at one time, a volunteer.

Because the government is a social good endowed with the rightful authority to confiscate in order to carry out its obligations and responsibilities to its citizens.

Did government money go towards any of your training, equipment, and/or anything else?

And thanks for your service.

That is a justification for doing it, not a logical argument for the distention between taxation and theft. You are saying that it’s necessary, not that it isn’t theft.

No. Because I can support parts of the system (like, simply having a government) and not support all of it.

You are saying you don’t support the legal system or police?

No, I’m saying it isn’t theft.

You continue to forget I argue is a moral difference.

Which is why I pointed out that murders are killings but not all killings are murders.

No, I do support them. I don’t support unsolved murders.

But if you go and do some basic reading on morality and law, you will find well reasoned logic behind the distinction. You don’t have that for taxation.
