My hair has been falling out for almost six years now (I’m 26 now). Went off the pill a year ago but no hair came back. I just had my Testosterone,Free & Weakly bound test and can’t figure these numbers out…Test=62 (14-76)REF… 13% Free (4.2-16.2%)REF… Free/weak bound= 8.4 (.03-6.7)REF… DHEA SULFATE=204 (65-380)REF… Free T-3=3.2 (2.3-4.2)REF…Does everything look ok or? What about free/weak bound test at 8.4, that is out of the normal range? thank you in advance, Zo.
MPB? Happens to the best of us.
Maybe FPB!!! I’m sportin’ a giggle, not a tube steak!!!Hehe
Uh oh! The Dogg failed to spot a member of the fairer sex. What does this bode for him? Is it all over - or will he bounce back? Tune in next week …
If the problem is endocrine related it is more likely to be your thyroid. Try to get a TSH and total t3 assay done. It could also be related to your diet…in particular not taking in enough protein.
don’t know what the numbers mean, sorry, but it could just be a genetic predisposition to MPB, without your androgen levels going crazy. good news is that theres plenty you can do about it. Worst comes to worst you could use a (systemic) androgen blocker, but they have topical androgen blockers you can rub on your scalp daily which will apparently restore the hair gradually (significant results in 1 year)
What about vitamin deficiencies and/or diet? Are you getting enough protein? Are you getting enough Vitamin E and the B vitamins? Also, what is the consistency of your hair. Is there a history of female baldness in your family?
Thank you everyone…Zo
I must have missed the subject line! And I thought the name said “Joey” as in a guy. Guess I’m getting old or something. Ahh, it’s all good, I got a girl! Not sure what to tell you though. I’ve seen women who are losing their hair. It sucks, and I’m not sure what could be the cause. It could be nutrition, heredity or a possible health issue.
Just out of curiousity which topical androgen blockers are you refering to? I want to try some cause I’m just starting to thin and I want to catch it on time. Anything new (or old) that you feel is worthwhile.
sorry, its really not my topic - I hear the words “androgen blocker” or “androgen suppressant” and I emit a Homer Simpson- type shriek and run from the room. But talk to your doctor about it. I’m not sure if you’ll have to consult a specialist, but you shouldn’t have any trouble getting it prescribed. good luck
