T-Nation Bikers

Gojira,Beautiful Bike and Rider, nice to see a Classy Ride like yours. My Grandpa started Ridin Harleys in the Teens and he always said he’d take an Indian or Super X over a Harley anyday!!!

I just sold my Kawasaki and started riding a 2001 Harley FXDX. I’m amazed at how much easier to ride the FXDX is than the old bike. The engine is about twice the size (1430 vs. 750) and the bike only weighs 123 lbs more. My girlfriend rides a 1985 Harley Low Rider. This a picture of my bike.

A jap bike guy is worse.
I don’t think I am better than anyone else but my family is at home not with a bunch of hard dicks.

Tell me, why would you then type all of this as if anyone else is supposed to care?[/quote

Your the one who had his feelings hurt because they dont wave at you, grow up already. Doesn’t make em stuck up.

I ride Harleys because I like them plain and simple, I could care less what everyone else rides, its their business. I don’t feel the need to defend my position constantly like you do.

Seeing as everyone is not afraid of stepping on the toes (and bollocks) of sports bikes riders, I’ll say a lot of bikes mentioned on this thread are boring and specifically going out of your way to own them is like marrying Carmen Electra and never having sex with her.

Huh? I suppose you are making reference to people who own sport bikes and don’t race them?

This is my '65 pan, my usual rider to work when the weather allows. I don’t think it’s boring. I rather like it.

Hey, at least I’m posting pics of myself RIDING my bikes.

You’re right, of course. I love riding without a helmet, when I can get away with it (the coppers here take a dim view). You’re kind of screwed when it rains though?

Erm no.

Someone who didn’t feel the need to defend their position…and who also didn’t care what others thought…wouldn’t have written that first post or the one you just blessed us with.

Most people on the planet do happen to speak to others, whether it is in passing simply because you appear you have something in common or out of simple respect. You mentioned someone holding you a conversion before. On a bike going the opposite direction? Sure. Perhaps you felt the need to justify to yourself why you act like an asshole on your bike. I sure hope that worked out for you.

You all should get yourself a Buell, harley motor in a sportbike frame, the best of both worlds!!! They don’t call them harley’s comet for nothing, fits in with the sportbike crowd and the harley crowd, i have several other bikes but this is the only one i always get off and i am smiling.

Me too!

Well, I bought the bike! Above pic will give you an idea of what it looks like… It needs a bit of work to get 'er up and running properly, but I should have it in reasonable working order by a week from Sunday. I’ll need to track down a top for the right luggage, sadly, but then again, such is life with an older bike.

The XS11 to me is pretty much the perfect bike, from everything I’ve been reading - nice and comfy, cruises great, but still got plenty of get up and go.

I decided to get a cruiser type bike because:

A. I prefer the asthetic. B. It’s SERIOUSLY comfortable! C. crash bars just in case - not such a bad thing. D. Not into racing. E. I’ve done the little bike thing (in China where I learned to ride, a big bike would be pointless). I think it’s time for a big one, and one I can be stoked to own. F. Pricetag was good.

We all ride different bikes for different reasons - they’re ALL valid reasons. Ride whatever the hell you want - the important part is, LOVE what you ride.

forgot the pic, here it is.

And now that we have your tag number we can track you down, LOL.

I have to agree with the waving thing - what is up with that? As someone said earlier, it’s two wheels against the cages. That being said, I have noticed that more frequently the sportbike riders won’t wave either. I ride British, so I guess that’s the worst of both worlds?

Around here, everyone waves from choppers to sportbikes…EXCEPT the Harleys. In almost every case, if I am passing a Harley on the street, they will not wave. It is like some kind of snobbish motorcycle mentality that you don’t really see much. Some guys might be changing gears so they can’t wave, or are passing someone. but overall, most people will wave. That is probably why I have such a strong opinion against them. They think they are better simply because of the bike they ride.
Interesting, when I’m around Nashville some in the summer you see a lot of Harleys and they are friendlier than hell. Talk to you at stoplights and wave and such, and I’m thinking its not just because my bike’s a twin also… Perhaps its just a location/mentality thing. People are different all over.

I think it’s a “career/age” thing along with location. You have these middle aged guys who are probably truly “middle class” who have developed an attitude. It is why a few logged in and claimed that everyone riding sportbikes are all immature teenagers. I know some guys who ride cruisers who are cool as hell. Around here, it seems like the Harley riders pretty much think like the few who posted here.
Professor X wrote:
Further, let me add that you wouldn’t even know the age of someone wearing a helmet. That means YOU alone associate sportbikes with “youth and immaturity” simply because you want to.
+1 for alot of people on the road. I’m going to be 30 in November, and I’m not giving my sportbike up for nothing until I’m old enough to not think of riding it for fun anymore. You’re only as old as you feel, and I’m never gonna let myself feel too old as far as I’m concerned. Plus, I’m definitely an athletic person = athletic bike kind of rider, it matches my lifestyle.

And by the way this is my first bike. Just because I was a beginner doesn’t mean I gotta get a slow one or just because it’s a sportbike I’m gonna kill myself either. I’ve put 9,000 miles on her in 2 summers(4-5 months here in MI), no rashes. It’s all in the driver on how the bike responds.

Gojira those are some nice looking bikes you got there, and you look good on them. They’ve got a real old school look to them. Kind of risky without the helmet, but if you’re comfortable without it thats cool. I really like the look without the windshield and all the extra lights, that alot of people put on. Did you see the “World’s Fastest Indian” movie?

Loose Tool’s is looking good as well. I like all the black, and no windshield/excess lighting.

Thanks. We own five Indians. One is a 1928 that my husband is still working on restoring. Saw the movie, it was great. Those old Indians were fast, reliable and a favorite of the racing world. Hence the motto::
“You can’t wear out an Indian Scout”.

I have a black '03 600RR and I agree, it is the “fun-est” thing I have ever owned in my life.
