Syria Uproar?

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/27/us-laying-groundwork-for-military-strike-on-syria/

This is like deja vu all over again. John Kerry’s speech yesterday sounded like Bush’s reasoning to go into Iraq. This is not going to end well.

I will admit I was on Bush’s side and so was almost every American after 9/11. With hind site 20/20 we should not have gone into Iraq. I do not see the reasoning to go into Syria. See post above to see what I think we should do.

This is about to hit the fan in a couple of days.

The big issue I am having with all of this compared to Bush is…Bush got Congressional Approval to invade, but Obama is going to do this on his own.

Came across on my FB news field (may be pulled from dmaddox’s article as well): "A U.S. Defense official has told Fox News that a U.S. strike on #Syria is “not a matter of if, but when.” - FOXNEWS

I really can’t believe we are going to war again… This has to be a TOTAL MIND FUCK for folks who supported Obama… This is meant as an a-political comment (yes, a bit of an oxymoron).

And correct me if I’m wrong…but isn’t this a Civil War that is more than 2,000 years old?

There are a lot of things floating around…but one of the most “viable” plans is to have Special Operations secure known Chemical Weapons Sites (which will be REAL tricky…and VERY dangerous)…and launch Tomahawks to take out Command and Control, rocket launchers, etc.

What you WON’T see are large numbers of U.S. troops and tanks going into Damascus.

Special Forces can only hold these locations for so long. You would need a large ground force to hold them.

Better to just bomb the sites, imo.

You are making the mistake that even a majority of those people are aware this is going on.

Let’s see if he keeps his integrity on the issue…

More like 1,400 years old, but who is really counting. The Shites and Sunnies have 2 different Korans, and that is the major jist of the civil war.

Of course not, now it’s his boss doing it not the competition.

About 1382 years using the year 632 C.E. as the starting point.

Indeed. The level of political and news ignorance is shockingly high.

I think after we reach the Millennium mark on warfare the time spent fighting sort of becomes irrelevant…

Jewbacca, what would you do militarily to keep the Civil War contained to Syria? Would Israel play a part, or is it better to keep them out of it?

I agree. My post was me being a smart ass.

Would also like to know JB’s thoughts.

Doesn’t Israel keep both literal (land wise) AND military “buffer Zones” with the States that border them?

Mufasa

Mainly Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and to a lesser extent Saudia Arabia? (If my geography is right).

I remember being ridiculed by the lefties back in the day for saying this. There was more than enough evidence in support of it, all they had to do was pull their heads out of the sand and see it.
