(Right…3/4 of those guys would be setting IED’s for American Troops if we set foot in the middle of the Syrian Slaughter…)
Pat:
To me, the cost is sending more of this Generation’s finest; that has already borne the brunt of War as much as any other; to die.
And the thing that always leaves me scratching my head, is…“Where is China”?
With the ability to put 1 MILLION “boots on the ground”; what is their “moral” obligation to being witness to the Slaughter of thousands? Is their fear that committing their forces would weaken their ability to suppress their own people? Is their “moral” obligation to China only?
It’s a great question, Pat…and one with no easy answers.

China has no moral backbone, they’ve killed millions of their own people. I am pretty sure they could give a damn less if Syria kills all but a couple hundred of their own folks.
Yep, there are no easy answers here. How tolerant are we to a highly unstable Syria? How much pressure will they get from Iran via hezbolah? How dangerous regionally is this situations.
I guarantee we won’t put boots on the ground. But what I do find interesting is how fast we stepped in in Lybia, but have allowed the Syrian situation to get far worse, than that and haven’t done anything. It begs the question, does it have to do with being an election year? It would be a bad thing if the decision is being effected by re-election. That should not be playing into it, people are dying and that’s not funny.
"Though the White House said all options remain on the table for Syria, President Obama has not requested to see any military options for invading Syria prepared by Pentagon, two senior military officials told Fox News.
The president’s lack of interest in U.S. war plans suggests it’s more likely that forces will not get involved military, the officials said.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters traveling with the president on Thursday that the White House is still focused on ending this crisis with political pressure.
“Further militarization will lead to a dangerous and chaotic path,” Carney said of arming opposition forces. “We’ll continue to evaluate as time goes on. The fact of the matter is the aggression is being carried out by Assad and that’s why we’re working so hard with international partners to cease and desist.”
