Heres the lowdown on this Virus,
First off Get your God dam Flu shots it might help you against the swine H3N2 variation of the virus. The swinr H1N1 however is not affected by the flu shot.
How the virus works - The reason why the virus is mainly killing the young adults is because they are the ones with a good immune system. The virus basically makes your immune system go berserk.
Don’t go to Work to if you show any symptoms of the flu. God knows the infection rate will go up tomorrow because of the amount of people with symptoms will still go to work.
I was talking to a friend of mine his dad is virologist(Luis P. Villarreal) at UCI. And he was telling him that this is can turn into a pandemic if its not treated because of the people it targets
young adults.
Isn’t there no way you can really know what version of the flu shot you are receiving? Older/newer? I know they say there is only a small chance that the shot that you get will even be useful against the strain that you may end up getting. And that the shots take months to prepare and be distributed. That is what I have been told, anyways.
Your map should show Tucson, AZ tomorrow. Someone was diagnosed with it in the ER earlier today.
Lots of you quick to dismiss this, but seem to forget that flu pandemics have killed many millions in the past.
Is this one going to cause a worldwide catastrophe? No one knows that, but the virus doesn’t care if it’s hyped or not.
When was the last pandemic that killed millions? I’m thinking that the last “killed millions” one was in 1968. Medical technology has improved slightly since then.

Yes sir, Rockula. Hear hear! The news is fear mongering shite. It is a plot to render us fearful, helpless sheep. Scared people are easier to control.
Absofuckinglutely right. Get your ass on a plane to somewhere, show them bastards who’s in charge by god!
If you have to book a flight to Singapore or Honk Kong or Taipei or Mumbai or especially Europe, get a connection in Mexico City and catch a soccer match first.
Since it seems to attack people with healthier immune systems, my suggestion is to start drinking heavily. Listen to me. I’m pre-med. I know what I’m talking about.
I just read up on the CDC site about it this morning, it’s just another strain of the flu virus. Nothing to get all up in arms about. Just stay clean and healthy.
I’m actually going to SoCal in a week, and then sailing to Mexico. I’m not worried about it at all.
My girl is always sick (thanks to her job in the medical world) and I never get what she gets.

Problem with Swine Flu, just like the global influenza epidemic of the early 20th century, is that the healthier you are the more likely you are to die.
That’s kind of what worries me.
Don’t worry about it.
Tamiflu and Relenza (both antiviral meds in the USA) seem to treat it well.

Until people get their hands on their own supply and start taking it daily “just in case”, then get exposed to Swine Flu, and the virus evolves to become antiviral resistant.
So long as Tamiflu and Relenza stay in the hands of the medical profession and are dispensed only in hospitals, we’ll be safe.
…but these drugs are available over-the-counter in Asia where people will take it for even a minor case of the sniffles.
If the swine flu spends enough time in Asia, it’ll become drug resistant. :^S
Kent Brockman: Hordes of panicky people seem to be evacuating the town for some unknown reason. Professor, without knowing precisely what the danger is, would you say it’s time for our viewers to crack each other’s heads open and feast on the goo inside?

People need to really start reading up on this shit or at least not listen to what everybody tells them no offense Cherrymennos but in regards to the Flu shot the CDC is usually really GOOD I repeat REALLY GOOD at determining what flu strain will be out there during flu season.
As for the maps i dont know who is keeping track i think its some third party not google or the CDC so odds are its updated at random intervals not specific ones.

You are right, I ought to have provided a written source- it is so hard to find a source that isn’t biased for, or against the medical establishment, though. I will look up the CDC’s history on predicting dominant strains.
I read an interview with a virologist who says some “panic” is actually good. People being afraid will stay in less contact with others, wash their hands more often, even keep their kids home from school. All these things would stop the spread of a disease and keep it from becoming an epidemic or worse.
