Loved it! Gotta admit I got a bit misty-eyed. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were people around her telling her not to bother; too old, too fat, too ugly. But, she believed in herself and delivered.

Not sure I get the hoopla, who cares what she looks like? Good singing is good singing, but why is this such a huge story? The overweight opera dude from a couple years ago was more impressive.

Hate to say it, but if she is going to do a record, think Milli Vanilli. As in someone else’s face will be on the record.

I like the irony in your post. This is exactly what some people have been saying shouldn’t be an issue for talented singers, but we have become accustomed to seeing pretty faces in music videos.

Not too suprised, that show has churned out great talent.

I am curious if she’s had any vocal training. That voice sounds a little too mature (performance-wise) to be something that she was simply born with. It sounds very polished. I’m not trying to take away from her spotlight at all, either.

If you watch the long version, they ask her how long she’s been singing and she says since she was 12. Probably just church and small gatherings.
