Summer Cycle (Test Prop/Tren/Mast)

Days 3 & 4

I feel pretty good today. The lats and traps are pretty sore from my back workout out but it feels good though. The biceps are also very sore, they pretty much always are after my back and bi’s workout. I had a really good biceps pump and the perfect forearem pump, not to little and not too much.

Yesterday was a shoulder day for me which was good, until my running after the lift. My trainer had me holding a medicine ball over my head for all of my plyo work which at that point just crushed my shoulders. My shoulder workout was this:

Overhead press: 4x8 135lbs

Front raise: 3x8 45lbs

Incline Lateral Raise: 3x10 25lbs

Smith Machine Upright row: 3x10 (90, 100, 100)

After the workout I had my plyo workout right after which was very good on the calves and topped offf my shoulders.

Today I went back to the Chest/Tri workout, I was feeling a little sluggish, just tired from the long day of work but it was still a good workout, not great but still worth it.

Bench: 4x6 (275, 275, 285, 285)

Incline DB Becnh: 3x10 80lbs

Machine flyes: 3x10 (170, 190, 190)

Skull crushers: 3x8 125lbs

Weighted dips: 3x10 45 weight belt

Single arm extensions: 3x10 70lbs

Afterwords I had a light sprint workout. I have been limited in my sprinting due to an awkward hamstring pull that I got a few weeks ago. I’m hoping it will heal up by monday and I can get back up to full speed on the treadmill again.

I am doing a fourth run tomorrow so we will see if there is any gas left in the tank to do a leg workout tomorrow afternoon.

tw do you ever take a day off of training? Your volume and frequency seem high to me. For instance your Day 1 was chest and tris, your day 3 shoulder and day 4 chest and tris again. Thats a lot of front delt and tris. Not to mention no legs. While you can and should do a bit more on cycle you also definitely can overtrain, especially if you under sleep and eat. I mean if it works and you’re gaining more power to you. But you did in 4 consecutive days what normally would take me almost 2 weeks to do especially volume wise

Under normal circumstances I would only take sunday off. My training split would also normally look like one of two ways:

Monday: chest/tris Monday: chest/tris
Tuesday: Back/bis Tuesday: Back/bis
Wednesday:legs Wednesday: Legs
Thurdsay:Chest/tris Thurday: Shoulders
Friday: Back/bis Friday: Bis/tris
Saturday: Hamstings/shoulders Saturday: Legs
Sunday: off Sunday: off

It feels pretty normal for me right now. Obviously with the missing leg days right now which I am hoping to add this weekend. Since I had started this Athletic Republic (http://www.athleticrepublic.com/) program I have just been trying to slowly add the legs in because the running and plyo work is brutal on the legs. I mean it has been getting me into great shape but its just taking a toll on my legs. But after about 3 weeks and one pulled hammy I feel ready enough to jump back in the squat rack and add legs back to my routine because I do enjoy squatting and want to add some more weight to my squat number.

Just seems excessive to me but as I always say whatever works for you. I just recently reduced my training days from 4 to just 3 days a week. Clearly our training objectives are different and thats understandable. I must inquire of you what is your primary training goal? Its seems to be bodybuilding hypertrophy oriented expect that you do a lot of running and plyo stuff which seems more athletically oriented.

Ummmm well yes and yes. I spent 2006 doing exactly what an ex coach of mine had prescribed as a summer workout program. I lost 10lbs and about 20lbs on all of my lifts. So although I am an athlete I prefer more of a bodybuilder type workout while still having a sport specific running regimen. I just find that it works for me. I will probably add in some olympic lifts to my leg days but some of these strength coaches think that they know everything about everything which isn’t the case.

I’m curious as to what your week looks like as far as your workouts go.

Sure. Now I just started training for some strongman comp later this month. So I dropped training days to MWF as I cannot do consecutive days of those workouts.
So Monday I did:
1 set Pull-Ups
5x2 Deads
1 set Hammer Rows
2 sets Laterals
1 set One Leg Calf Raise
Farmers Hold
Farmers Walk
3 sets Abs
1 set Band pushdowns
Then some conditioning work alternating 1 min slow pace then 1 minute sprint

Wednesday I did:
1 set Pull Ups
2 sets Incline Press
1 set Hammer Rows
2 sets Laterals
2 sets One Leg Calf
2 sets Abs
2 sets Band Pushdowns
Farmers Hold
Farmers Walk
More Conditioning stuff

I’ll train again today Friday with focus on Thighs and Shoulder/Overhead

i’m also on 50mg test and 50mg tren every day.

My training is

Mon:
AM:
Squat 5/3/1 wendler
Lunges 5x15
step-ups 5x10
PM: Muay Thai 2 hours

Tues:
AM:
Press 5/3/1 wendler
Pulups/chinups 5x10 bodyweight
Dips 5x15 bodyweight
PM:
GPP anaerobic conditioning work + core training session

Wednesday
AM: 4.6mile run, hill spring
PM: Muay Thai 2 hours

Thursday
AM: 4.6mile run, hill spring
Bench press 5/3/1 wendler
Incline dumbbell fly 5 x 10

My goal is to be a badass light heavyweight fighter.

Unfortunately i’m going to have to stop all training on day 30 of my programme, which falls this Monday as i’m having a testicle removed as i have cancer.

Anyway, i find on this much test/tren, and only 3 lifts 4 times a week, i’m building mad muscle.

Yea I read about this on your original post about it. Sorry to hear that man. I hope the surgery and ensuing recovery goes well for you.

So I don’t know why I just feel like I have to have the training volume up as high as I do. I may have to if it is working for both of you as well as it does. If I do it will definitely incorporate power cleans, full cleans, and maybe some snatches.

To be honest, i’ve never understood the need for that much volume.

But then hey, i’m no expert bodybuilder.

Too many magazines I guess, lol

1] Dont believe muscle mags
2] Pros taking generous quantities of aas and hgh can get away with higher volume
3] 90% of everyone could cut volume in half and make progress

I mean I take certain things from magazines as far as tweaking some of the lifts that I do, not some of these insane workouts that I see. I don’t plan on being a pro bodybuilder nor do I aspire to be the size of some of these people ever. And I agree with being able to make extraordinary progress and not use massive amounts of aas. But to each there own.

Well I scared myself half to death last night. I was Icing my back and hoped on the scale ( with the ice) and that thing popped up at 231 lbs. I like the weight but I would expect not to jump from 217 to 231 in a week.

So I went to bed and waited til this morning to weigh myself again and it came up to 225. 8 lbs in a week is still pretty hefty but better than nearly 14 lbs. I would not expect this much weight gain simply from the amount of running that I do in a week, i was thinking that this would help keep my weight in check but it so far has been much the opposite.

The only guess I have to this would be the d bol pre workout, but even so I still didn’t expect to keep much of that weight from taking once a day on training days only.

I’ll be adding mast to the equation in about 5-6 days so we will see what happens. I am also considering shortening the cycle up a bit and upping my aas intake but we will see.

The best thing about training on AAS for me is that you see massive improvements in strength and can lift heavier on your main lifts.

Therefore, i concentrate on adding poundage on cycle rather than adding lifts.

Yea, I am looking forward to beefing up my squat quite a bit. I’ve been having a few back issues from work but i’m looking to get over the 500lb mark this summer.

Just got home from the gym. I’m taking 30mg of dbol pre workout out now, I like that dosage right now and I think thats where I’ll be sticking at. Today I did my chest/tri workout, we’ll see if I can take your advise saps and lower the volume a bit this week. I spent the weekend resting my lower back icing, heating, and lots of ibuprofen but it seems to be useless. And this ridiculous long weekend means all chiropractors have been closed since thursday. Either way i’m jumping back into the squat rack on wednesday. As for todays workout.

Chained bench press: 3x10 (225, 245, 255)
I can’t say how much the chains were but I would guess about 15-20lb each.

Inlcine ALT DB bench: 3x8 (75, 80, 80)

Incline flyes 3x10 45lbs

Skull crushers w/straigt bar 3x10 100lbs

Dips w/ belt 3 sets 8, 9, 10 reps 45lb plate

Triceps pressdown w/ v bar 2x10 (150, 170)

I could have probably gone higher on the skull crushers but I have the worst tendinitis in my right elbow whenever I do skull crushers so I lightened up a bit. I also weighed in at 230lbs when I got to the gym today so I’d say all of my gear is working but i’m hoping not to gain to much more weight which is sure to happen when I start squatting again on a regular basis. I think i’m going to have to add few days of cardio on my own and hopefully regulate my weight. Tomorrow is back/bi and I’ll probably add in some single leg good mornings for the low back since nothing else is working.

I gotta ask because I think this is the second time I’ve seen you list it. Incline ALT DB Bench. Does ALT mean alternating as in you press one arm at a time?

Yes sir. Its just a harder exercise than both at the same time. I could most likely do 90lbs if I did them at the same time, but holding the weight that long burns you out quicker.

Back/bi’s today. It was a good workout. I forgot my headphones at home so that pissed me off quite a bit, the last thing I want to hear while i’m working out is how two “brosef’s” could never lift not infront of the mirror. Awesome conversation. Anyway the rest of the workout was good and went as follows.

Weighted Pullups: 3x10 BW + 25lbs

Bent over DB Rows: 3x10 (100, 105, 110)

T-Bar Row: 3x10 160lbs

Straight Bar Preacher curl: 3x10 70lbs

Incline DB Curl: 35lbs

And burned out the bi’s with 25 standing band curls.

Another day on the super treadmill. Its making me feel more and more out of shape but it gets nothing but results. Hammmy’s are a little sore but i’m sure they’ll be fine for my first leg day in a long time tomorrow.
Tomorrow will also be my first day adding the shot of masteron to the mix which i’m pretty excited about since so many seem to rave about it.

And I found out that it turns out that my boss is just recently graduated with a chemistry degree and is looking to become a nutritionist. I think I know who his first client is going to be.
