South Park: The Coon vs. Mysterio

Who Is The Coon was an awesome episode. The Ring sucked major ass. I barely broke a smile.

When I saw The Ring I thought South Park was pretty much finished, but The Coon shows that it’s still a good show.

But why do they have to take a 5-6 month break after 6-7 fucking episodes? Are they that lazy? I mean the last 2 seasons haven’t really been representative…
Actually, the technology it takes for the show is pretty advanced. For all of the standards set for South Park these days, I can understand if they want to try to make the most elaborate and imaginative stories out of a simple 21 minute time block.

It takes time to think these things up - although I do wish there were at least another episode or two per half season.

But that’s the thing. The first 6 seasons were just pure gold, not because they were so imaginative, but because it was all just stupid humor, as if they came up with all of it while driving home from work or taking a shit… I don’t want my South Park to be all sophisticated, if I wanted that I’d watch Frasier.

Sometimes when I watch some of the early episodes I just wonder where all that accumulated stupid went. I loved it when they didn’t have a whole team of screenwriters behind it.

But you can’t tell me the animation used for Brittney Spears half a head and Cartmans’ Retard and all the goofy motherfuckers in the one where the girls made a “cute list” didn’t add to the shows’ hilarity.

I agree with you. This guy also sums up the newer episodes…

"The characters have developed and matured too much. Trey and Matt can’t make episodes based on simple 4th grader issues… and these issues were what used to make the show so charming.

Plus, the old shows would have a designated story, and the people and concepts that the writers wanted to make fun of would be quick, to the point, and therefore a lot funnier. Now they milk an entire episode from one idea or person they want to make fun of. "

it’s good its more sophisticated now, I can’t stand family guy which is just straight out retard humour. Anyone who can put two situations togethor can write an episode of family guy, it lacks the substance that south park has.

I wonder if this is the first ever philosophical discussion about South Park ever. Lol. It’s funnier that we think about such a retarded show so deeply. Although I have recognized philosophical truth from a lot of the eopisodes. I just think it’s funny the kind of discussion going on about it.

But I do agree that the characters have evolved too much for “on the shitter” humor. They are in 4th grade, but think on a higher level. Like when cartman was dealing fetuses for stem cell research. That’s not a normal 4th grade endeavor. GOD! I love that show!

That’s the natural life cycle of any TV series. Eventually either the characters become stale, or they change so much they are no longer themselves.

The episode last week with the Jonas Brothers was terrible. This one was better though. Anybody catch the Leprechaun reference with the black dude when they were trying to figure out Mysterio’s identity by asking people in the crowd?
I thought maybe that’s what they were doing there, but I wasn’t sure. Glad I’m not the only one. I agree about “The Ring,” I couldn’t even watch the whole episode.

That episode, the Cartman retard one is fucking gold! The montage, and the animation was hilarious. I appreciate all the hardwork the guys are putting into it. All the minor facial expressions, physical gestures, add to the show greatly.
