Some Good Testosterone Movies

Kind of surprised no one has said it yet, but Bloodsport was always a favorite of mine growing up.

The aforementioned Rocky IV always gets me in the mood to workout, as well.

Also, throw me in that group that didn’t think 300 was as great as a lot of people did. I’m not saying I didn’t like it, but I saw it once in theaters and haven’t had the desire to watch it since. I’d much rather watch Gladiator any day.

OldBoy was definitely…interesting.

The fight scene with 30 or 40 people is superb.

Agreed!

How is it that Scarface has yet to be mentioned?

Others (which are about 1/100 of Rambo):
Blackhawk Down
We Were Soldiers
The Program (the “Welcome to the Jungle” training camp scene is unforgettable)
The Kingdom
Blood In, Blood Out
Hart’s War

Anywho, I remember an article by T-Nation a while ago about some Top 5 Testosterone movies or something like that.
Name yours, so I can get some ideas here.
Or something like that? Sheesh.

There were a few honorable mentions that didn’t make the list.

Crank - Fast paced, action packed (wow, sorry for the cliche description, but it’s legit). Statham really “carpe diem’d,” literally. The public sex scene was confusing. Borderline date rape, but for a good cause… I guess. (Did I just write that sentence? Wow, nevermind.)

From Dusk Till Dawn and Desperado - Both have tons of campy violence, a super-high entertainment factor, and Salma Hayek. [/explanation] (Ignore the two Dusk Till Dawn “sequels.”)

Live Free or Die Hard - The second best film in the series, right after the original. Bruce Willis hasn’t lost a step, and John McClane hasn’t lost his attitude.

Tears of the Sun - An overlooked “war movie” starring Bruce Willis and Monica Bellucci. Good action scenes, and a solid story.

I may be one of the only people that has never seen scarface. I have also never seen any of the godfather movies.

Some good ones mentioned are definetly:

Tombstone
Braveheart
rocky 4
Bloodsport

Oh and not 300

Could someone please explain to me why Boondock Saints is such a great movie.
Ha. You don’t have any Irish in your family, do you? It’s a solid movie with interesting characters, natural dialogue, a well explained story, and that whole “wouldn’t it be cool to be a vigilante” angle.

On point one, that’s alright. I always thought it was pretty overrated and glorified the lifestyle without much substance, especially compared to Goodfellas and The Godfather.

On point two, I don’t like you anymore. I’m hereby disqualifying you from further discussion about good movies until this is rectified.

Vanishing Point (1971 - not the remake)

Way of the Gun

Bulitt

Afro Samurai

The Transporter

Payback

The Bourne Series

Undisputed (Wesley Snipes + Ving Rhames)

Brotherhood of the Wolf

13th Warrior

Hard Times (Charles Bronson + James Coburn)

James Bond Series

Reign of Fire

Get Carter (Stallone remake)

Come on, this one should be easy:

Roadhouse!
The Departed is another one of my favorites.

Gladiator
The boondock saints
Big trouble in Little China
Knockaround Guys (skip to 500 fights scene)
the 13th warrior
Desperado
Payback
The patriot
Navy seals
Die Hard (all of them)

Lethal Weapon is another good one. The soundtrack is composed almost entirely of Eric Clapton wailing on guitar, and there’s a sick fight scene at the end.

300
Shooter
TMNT (I know, but it kicks ass)
Crank
The Weatherman
Desperado
Oldboy
Braveheart
The Patriot

Outlaw Josey Wales

Conan The Destoryer/Barbarian
Fearless
Gladiator
Full Metal Jacket (the drill sargent makes the movie)
Scarface
Animal Trainer Series (Rocco is da porn king)
Black Hawk Down
Aliens 2
GoodFellas

The best Beowulf movie that most people don’t know is based off of Beowulf, such a solid flick(love the night time fight scene where they’re in the tent and you can’t see much but the sound is tremendous.)

If you like the Departed, watch the originals:

Infernal Affairs I
Infernal Affairs II
Infernal Affairs III

Conan the Barbarian is one of the greatest movies ever made, but Conan the Destroyer??? What the hell were you smoking?
