Social Media - Devil in Disguise?

This is spot on and not many people understand it. It is a very weird phenomenon. My guess is that the people were sick of the MSLM for quite a long time and they now have someone who is calling them out on it and they are loving it.

The other day my wife asked when I thought President Trump would stop attacking the media. My response is why in the world would he ever want to remove the boogie man who has actually been making him look good by trying to make him look bad.

Trump most DEFINITELY thrives on having a Boogey Man…and the Media is ready and willing to oblige…

But wait! That must not be enough! If the man wasn’t married to Melania, I could swear he has some kind of weird Hard-On for Hillary.

He BEAT the woman…when is he going to let it go???

I did. That was not your point, though. You based your argument on not needing to use an EO. Obama didn’t use EO’s as a “fallback” in the first week, for christ sake. Every president does this.

Don’t psychoanalyze me, you missed the entire point of what I said. Meaning, you probably didn’t read it all, which is fine, your not required to, but you missed my point. My point was simply that the media is feeding the frenzy and making Trump more popular and bigger than he would have ever been if they had been less hysterical.

Which is interesting since first of all, there was no hysteria from the progressive left about obama deporting more people than any before him in history. A policy of his I actually support. Secondly, immigration reform has been on the ballot since Reagan’s second term and nobody has managed to make progress. The misunderstanding has been a failure of the media and left wing pundits. Nobody has a problem with legal immigration. It’s illegal immigration people have a problem with. Being a legal immigrant myself, I have a huge problem with illegals getting immunity, when the rest of us bothered to do it the right way. That’s just principle.
The rest of it, just boggles my mind that people would want open borders. You can’t just let anybody in. There is a lot of bad apples with bad intent, rolling out the red carpet would be a security nightmare. You have to look no further than the migrant crisis in Europe as an example.
Second, it feeds a nefarious business and promotes the abuse of the lowliest people who are being sold a pipe dream that has no chance of coming true.
Why would you want to support the ‘Coyotes’ who extort thousands of dollars from the people who want to run accross the border? Why would you support the U.S. business owners who extort these people for cheap labor and work then into the ground paying them next to nothing?
Open borders supports the use and abuse of the lowliest people. To support a policy that allows them to he extorted and abused time and time again is just astounding to me.
There are people who profit from illegal immigration, but it’s not the immigrants. It’s the people who abuse them, knowing they have no where to run and no one to complain to. It’s completely inhumane and bad for everybody involved.

ACA is collapsing under its own weight. It cannot survive as it currently exists. Further it has increased medical costs across the board. If you are a generally healthy person and young, you may not notice. But if you need medical care on a regular basis, it’s flat bankrupting. It’s a disaster and has been since it started. Don’t believe me look at the stats from 2014 on. That speaks for itself.

I did not say anything of the sort. All I said is that they are making Trump bigger and more powerful than he would have ever been if they didn’t feed into the hysteria and bothered to edit and fact check their stories before they print them.
Reporting shit like “Trump removes bust of MLK from the WH” as news, when the only thing that has happened to the bust is it’s being dusted regularly like everything else benefits Trump and makes them (the media) look like pundits instead of reporters. He should like the hysteria, it’s done nothing but make him the most famous man in the world.

I wish he would. Quite honestly, he could use her expertise and he would be better served having her as an ally. Allies do not have to agree on everything, but she’s worked in government for years and she’s dealt with the foreign leaders he’s now dealing with and having all the information about someone you can is always useful. Bill used to consult with Richard Nixon about foreign policy issues. Talk about being far apart on issues, but Nixon had useful knowledge, why not use it.

Like I said before, he’s not my first choice by a long shot, because he’s not a gentleman. But I do not have a problem with the policy he has worked on as of yet. His bloviating isn’t going to affect my life, policy will. So underneath all the blathering, I hope for good policy and right now, I don’t have a problem with his policy. But the presidency is young…

If I were him, I wouldn’t until it backfires or quits working. I just cannot argue with something that is working. But it may not work forever. So the trick for him is to navigate those waters so he can head them off at the pass.

The MSML has needed to be checked for a while. When they started chasing sensationalism instead of news is when it went off the tracks. I remember growing up, the national news started with the world and then went national unless the national news was the world news. During the Iran hostage crisis, every night, the first story. How many days and the latest updates. Same with Vietnam, first story was the war, as it should have been.
When you have a major terror attack in Pakistan, done by ISIS and it barely makes the front page in the U.S., that exposes a problem with reporting and journalistic integrity.

I would have though when the book “Bias” by Bernard Goldburg came out, that would have been a reality check. But instead they castigated him as Satan incarnate and doubled down. Now it’s failing them, finally. And that’s good. Because the first people to correct themselves and vow to the public that they will be vigilant in journalistic integrity and follow through, will become the trusted source for many.

I sure as heck would hope so, Pat…but we’ve talked about this before…people are now gravitating toward those sources that support their own personal “Party Line”.

“Truth” then becomes merely what one chooses to believe.

Well there you go thinking again. Thats probably why you aren’t a good progressive. You thought through the outrage and got down to some real problems.

How are you under the impression it’s working? Trump’s approval ratings have been in free fall since his inauguration.

People always gravitate towards echo chambers. The problem with that is repetition. You don’t learn anything new if you purposefully seek out partisan information only. However, were are the people supposed to go? People are clamoring for information and are only able to get legit stuff in spurts. Trust in the media is really low. Their approval rating is lower than Trumps. That’s significant.

But don’t worry about ‘Truth’. The truth is, was and always will be what is the case. In the end it will always win because the other stuff isn’t actually real.

No they haven’t. He came in low, but his numbers are not in a ‘freefall’. And Hillary would have been low as well, nobody liked her. The big difference is that Trumps base is strong and unwavering. The people who like him, love him. And they aren’t going any where any time soon.

This is very true…with things moving along “Status Quo”.

Now follow me on this one, guys…Trump is a lot of things…but at least things are not moving along “game as usual”…

Which is why 1) he IS my President and 2) I hope he really IS “shaking things up” and not just metaphorically “rearranging the Deck Chairs on the Titanic” simply because he can.

AT THIS POINT IN HISTORY, I will take him over Hillary, warts and all.

I think Trump’s REAL test will be two-old:

  1. How he truly responds to a real International Crisis ESPECIALLY if it involves Russia, and

  2. How he translates Executive Actions into LEGISLATIVE action.

I haven’t done enough research on the case so forgive me if this was spelled out in the ruling, who had standing to sue? Did they say how a State can file suit on behalf of a foreigner?

You missed the memo. Any “news” that disagrees with Trump is fake news. All hail our mighty leader and his infinite wisdom!

On a less Raj-y sounding note, Trump will probably be responsible for the biggest shift in “college educated voters” away from the GOP that this country has ever seen.

I don’t know PF. Things seem to be trending the other way. It’s not necessarily due to Trump but more and more conservative groups are popping up on college campuses. The left still has a stranglehold on academia and that’s not going anywhere. It seems however that the country and college aged people as well are finally seeing progressives for what they actually are, hateful and envious.

and this

Na. He won the white college male and won the overall white college vote . That won’t change by calling everyone a racist, sexist, islamophobic, homophobic, nazi, all while wearing a vagina hat on their head.

These 2 things are basically my entire point. The “racist, sexist, islamophobic, etcetc” thing was a HUGE driving factor to HRC’s loss. Now Trumpers are doing the exact same thing.

Someone supports universal health care? Label em a “progressive.”
Someone supports taxing the rich? Label em a “progressive.”
Someone supports immigrants? Label em a “progressive.”

Both sides of my family are from rural backwater areas of the country. A disgusting number of people showed up to the polls just to give Dems the middle finger (75% of my family falls into this category, they’re all half retarded but goddamn did they stick it to the libs). This can be seen across the entire country with hundreds of red counties seeing record turnouts.

Now Trumpers are doing the exact thing to Dems that motivated them to go vote en masse. You can support universal health care AND want to ban abortion. You can support taxing the rich AND want the govt to stop fucking with 2A.

By painting with such a broad stroke, Trumpers are becoming the driving factor in encouraging “progressives” to keep going. Do you genuinely think when HRC isn’t running that you’ll still see record turnouts from the people that showed up to stop HRC? In 3 years, when Trump has dozens of political failures to point out like Hillary did, when there’s a mind blowing number of ‘insert hypocritical tweet here’ problems that he has to deal with, when people realize that “drain the swamp” really meant “swap out the swamp water.”

It’s going to be epic.

At the risk of ruining my pristine reputation, this is very, very, very funny.
Lots of language, but appropriate in this instance.
