Baton Rouge is really two cities in one. LSU and the surrounding area are everything you’d expect in a college town, and then there’s the rest of the city… I’ve actually only lived there for my 4 years of college, so I could only comment on the LSU area of town. I’m in New Orleans now, and I don’t think this city needs any explanation. It’s great to visit, and some people love it, but I’m about ready to get outta here. I love this state, and my family is here, but I gotta see other parts of the country too. Any suggestions from anybody would be appreciated.
And BTW, if anybody’s ever down in the area and in need of some good food and/or a workout, drop me a line.

Actually Jill, they KU guy goes to KSU. There is a big difference there. YA KU sucks but we’ve beat you guys two times in a row here. Sisco, I agree that Nebraska fans are out of control with their team. I've had one set behind the past two years at the KU/NU game and it is pure hell. However, look at the tradition and teams they've had. You and I would be just as bad if KU and KState dominated for that long, so don't playa hate:)

Hey Brad, I was talking about football. I can’t say anything about other KU sports. I even liked KU basketball when I was in highschool and before I came here. Hell, I still go for them when they play everybody else but K-State. So I have to eat my words on that one. Oh by the way even though I love lawrance, thats a bad ass town, you shouldn’t say too much about fags because Lawrence has its fair share. Oh ya, Roy is a fag. Back at cha.
I sincerely hope Nebraska wallops the 'Canes, so this whole f’d up system explodes in the BCS’s grill. A playoff must happen or college football will remain pointless. I disagree on a few points Nate Dogg. The best system would use the bowls for the playoff venues. Any team with 6 wins would still be eligible for a bowl, they make their money off of the revenue generated by the competitors fans attendance anyhow. They simply would not be invited to the say, 16 team 4 week playoff. Yes, there would still be controversy as to the playoff selections, but noone could argue that the best team had not been given an chance to compete for the championship on the field of play. Until this happens, college football will be stuck in this quagmire of controversy.
LOL, that’s cool siscokid. Yes, Lawrence is a little jewel of a place, I absolutely love it. KU always seems to catch flack for having a slightly higher than normal homosexual community. However, KState always gets flamed for being hicks, but I don’t want to go there:) What do you think of Mangino getting the new job here. We’ll see what happens. I like Bohl as our new AD though, dude nows football which is good for KU.
Atlas, I agree. Something like you proposed would be best. A bowl for teams with winning seasons, and playoffs for the top teams to figure out a true national champion. I just don’t think we’ll ever see that.

Sorry to burst the bubble but I don’t think Kansas will ever be very good at football. There just isn’t enough talent to go around the midwest. Unless they can start convincing California or Florida kids to come out to Kansas I don’t think they will have much luck. One exception to this though is Iowa State has down well the last two years when they were in the cellar since 77 or so. BUT they have juco players and recruit out of other states.
I don’t know, KU may not be that good, but I wouldn’t say never. I mean Magino was the recruiting mastermind who got great players to go to K-State. I’m not disrespecting K-State’s football program, but Manhatten itself isn’t the coolest place in the world, and how he got some of those players to go there from bigger cities and out of state I will never know. Keitzman talks about that all the time on his local radio show, and I’ve always been amazed by that fact. I mean K-State was the losingest team in D-1 history until about 10 years when they started to get good. The talent pool is out there, even locally. Just because a team isn’t that good doesn’t mean they can’t get players, a turnaround can happen at any time as long as the pieces of the puzzle are in place. A great team in the Midwest may get bad in the next two years and a new one could emerge so there’s no telling.
Good points Brad. Something else I think we have to take into account is illgal recruiting. Though most of the time it probably isn’t and I’m not making any accusations at all, but it does happen. IE Foster driving around a SUV. Also, how are the coaches. If the coaches are cool as shit a player will go there. There are just so many factors that come into account, but I think a winning program is a big part of them. You are right about how a team in the midwest, or anywhere for that matter, can come out of no where.
Magino will be good for KU. I think that is good for us and the big 12. I personally think the big 12 is the strongest conference around and one more kickass school won’t hurt. Ya, I agree with you Brad MANHATTAN IS FUCKING BORING. Anybody who could get people to come here and not KU, Neb, OAK, and Col is got to be a supermastermind. Personally I hope KU never gets too good, but making them a stronger team will benefit everybody. Oh and yes Manhattan is FULL of hicks. Oh and to Unger, Nebraska is full of midwest boys and so is the Texas teams and they seem to do alright. Will they rival the florida schools, maybe, but there is plenty of good players coming from the midwest. Hell, there isn’t anything else to do here thats for sure.

Ok sorry, I had to say that. I’m glad Mangino went to KU. I think he’ll do good things for them. I wonder If he took some heat from the OSU loss?(That is still hard to admit that happened)If he did that’s good because he should have. OU will do fine without him. Especially since White will be healthy. When he tore his knee to shreds, OU’s national title hopes went with him.
