Friday 13 June - week 1

Squat

No belt, nice smooth, fast reps.

Axle push press
Bar x 15
40 x 3
60 x 3
70 x 4 x 4 sets
70 x 8 - RPE 8. - left 2 in the tank to keep the reps tidy.
First time pressing overhead for months. Felt odd but also felt ok.

Bent over row
90 x 12 x 3 sets
They were excellent. Trumpet blowing toot tooooot

Lat pull downs
82 x 12 x 3 sets -
Phew. Good work

Rolling tricep ext
15 x 3 sets - 15, 15, 15
Big pump.

Rotator cuff- 5 mins

End of week 1 and it was very very good. Left hip is still a little achy but who gives a toss. Let’s go.

Sunday strongman practice

Keg clean and press today.

First time ever trying this so kept it light at 55KG (121 lbs)

Did 10 singles just to learn the movement. Some where good but some where not. :rofl:

My son was in the garden too, he was holding him for most of the reps but this one he just got lose. I just put it down and started again when my son had him under control. No danger.

Good hard work. Chest was very full after these. Almost cramping up between set 3 and 4. Ouch !!

Short rest, all pump work.

Dumbell row
50 x 8 x 3 sets (110 lbs)
Solid reps, good grip test too.

Rotator cuff work - 5 mins

This was a really good session. That has to be a volume rep PR at 140, and there was more in the tank too. Despite my dodgy old man hips I am feeling strong.

Tuesday strongman conditioning

Sandbag practice today. Did some picks with the 100KG bag and some shouldering with the 60KG bag.

Shouldered the 100KG (220 lbs) bag for the first time today. The bag at the gym is pretty floppy so it was a bit of a struggle but I got it first try. Happy

I still have my 115KG bag at home but I will need a lot more practice to have a chance of getting that up. Really happy with 100, especially as I haven’t done sandbag work for a while.

All with no belt. Very very good. Not sure this is a rep PR but definitely the best these have felt.

Tried to do these with no pause at top or bottom. A little bit of cheating to keep it moving but the pump was REAL!!

Rotator cuff work - 5 mins
