Should I Sell Her? (Pics)

Most people will never get the opportunity to own such a great car. Vintage Muscle never goes out of style but new muscle does.

NO

I agree. I sold a car that I loved, and to this day, I still regret it.

As others mentioned, if you own the car outright, then just garage it and keep it until you can afford to fix it up (if needed) and drive it and such. You already have a daily driver, so this car will be a great car to keep and work on in the long term.

I sold my 66 about 10 years ago…stupid stupid stupid

Same thing happened to me. Don’t do it man!

what’s the specs on it (engine tranny, other options/mods), it looks like it’s in good shape.

I’ve had my 71 Chevelle since I was 16…kept it through college which was hard…but SO worth it. I still have that car…I’m 30 now and will never get rid of it.

Definitely do NOT sell that car. The SVT Lightning, although a super sweet vehicle, is also an impractical car. You will have to worry about it getting stolen on a daily basis too. Keep the '69 and get yourself a cheap POS beater to drive on a daily basis. Garage the '69, store it, do what it takes to keep that car!!!

Do Not Sell!! Rust free and running, no way Jose. Still regret selling my '66 Mercury Montery. Check around for storage in the 'burbs or country for cheep. Also check the classic or RV web sites for tips on long term storage. From what I remember it won’t be hard and the aging will be kept to the min. In four years or so you will have a degree and more cash to spend on her. This also might be another motivator to stay in the study mode and graduate. My current motivator (at 36)for continuing education is wife and and future children.

She is really impractical and causes me more worry than she is worth… but the stares are priceless.

Sounds like a trophy wife. : )

May I just say reading the emotional responses on this trhead made me wish I WAS THAT CAR!

Dude I regret getting rid of my first car big-time.

And it was a fucking grey '84 Buick Skyhawk with 1.8 litre turbo and a blue door.

Definitely don’t sell that sweet ass car!

Damn, not one response for selling her huh? Not only have you guys made me rethink selling her; i also feel guilty for thinking about it in the first place Shit! I guess i should go outside and apologize to her…maybe take her out and stroke her gas pedal a lil bit, she always liked that.

-CU AeroStallion- The car has a stock 351 windsor, stock intake, exhaust, and block, topped with a 4-barrel demon carb. C4 automatic tranny, and 9-inch
rear-end with factory gears. when i bought the car i actually thought it was a real Mach One. It’s not, although it did come with a mach interior and exterior right down to the badging.

Hey Scorp,

Just a little tip I picked up when I sold my hot rod in college:

Keep the shoes you’re wearing on the day of the sale. One day, you will need to use them for kicking your own ass.

Nuff said.

Do you see what I MEAN!..I gotta get myself a 9-inch rear end with factory gears! : )

LOL…Alpha F, you have nothing to worry about, my baby is no contest for the real thing…yet. Well, if you decide to go ahead and get the 9-inch rear anyway, you might as well throw some nice steep gears in; maybe some 3.50’s ooohhh, or maybe 4.10’s aaahhhhh. Or…God forbid…a built motor topped with a B-71 Blower pushing 10 psi…ooohhhhhh yeeahh!!!
oops…I think i need a napkin now.

DON’T SELL IT!!

storage, baby! storage! Whatever it takes NOT to sell!

You need to get rid of that piece of shit. Sell it to me… I’ll get it off your hands. Hell, I’ll even junk it for you for free!!! Cough… Sarcasm…

OD

You guys kill me! : )

Well, looks like this is your Batmobile…how about renting it to those who would love to be seen driving that Alpha Engine?..Couldn’t you make some money out of it?

DO NOT SELL! Four years ago, I was in a nearly identical position as you. In high school I drove a blue and silver '73 Mach 1: 351 Cleveland, ram air, headers, 40series flowmasters, and a Tremec heavy-duty 5 speed we swapped in place of the old C6 automatic. I know your '69 is an impractical car for college, but I suggest you keep her even if the novelty is fading and the upkeep is irritating you. She’s worth it, trust me. She’ll only appreciate in value and you don’t realize now how much you’ll miss the car. I just graduated from the University of Georgia last month, and I still regret selling the Mach 1 that summer after my high school graduation. In my opinion, we sometimes need to sacrifice practicality before the altar of beauty and speed and history. That machine is an American icon, and with its resemblance to McQueen’s '67 fastback in Bullitt, I’m sure it’s a nonpareil headturner-don’t give that up. You’ll regret it! You’ll have withdraw! Life’s too boring when turning the key doesn’t send seismic tremors beneath the blacktop.

will the profits yield money for your father’s liver transplant? will it pay for your harem of petite, faithful females’ boob jobs? will it finance ransom for your kidnapped son?

no?

THEN DONT SELL!!!
