Should I Move Out?

Why are you getting a masters when you haven’t even worked a couple of years in the field? Useless. You seem to have bought into the education racket. Go work (not volunteer) in the field for a while, then go back and get the masters.

Save money. Stay home.

I did the equivalent, but used the Army free housing and was a proud barracks rat for years. Then I went and bought a house while all my buddies were still renting crap apartments.

There are some fields where you basically can’t work until you have at least a Master’s.

Just my .02, you’ll be more successful later if you consider what you just wrote. If you stay at home, you’ll do well academically and you’ll save lots of money. You’re moving out in a year anyway, you’ll have plenty of time for independence, working and bringing girls back to your place.

I didn’t live at home during college, but after school I did move back home and stayed there for the first two years while I had a full time job. Could I have moved out into my own place? Yes. But then I wouldn’t have been able to accumulate any type of savings. After two years living at home, I was able to bank most of my paycheck, and when I did move out, I could afford a down payment for a house, had a well stocked savings account and was able to be fully independent without any worries. Whether you buy or rent, you’ll still be far better off financially.

Dude!

In British Columbia you can Legally grow weed. With your papers, and the papers from 2 roommates, you could grow enough to buy a house straight cash!

Based purely on what you wrote without any deeper understanding of your personal history- I’d suggest that you stay home so that you can save money and continue to do well academically.

Independence doesn’t mean diddly squat if you’re racking up debt/not saving a lot of money and have no realistic base to build off.

It’s the age where people are apparently going to live well into their 90s/over a 100. Thinking that your time to be wild is only in your 20s seems a bit obsolete now.

Hey, lift or die, what did you end up doing?

Id stay home only because I moved out when I was 18 and it made life a lot tougher, if my family in general was more stable I would have stayed and probably been a happier person. I made a $20,000 mistake when I was 22 because I had nobody helping me out, so I say it isn’t worth it if you’ve gotta do everyone on your own. Once youre done with your shit you can party whenever you want.

Plus being poor sucks.

I decided to move out but I am not moving out until the semester is over. That way I can finish this semester strong, settle in over the winter break and then have another successful semester.

Wait, I may need to scroll back up, but weren’t you going to move out after the semester was over, regardless?
