Short Films

Damn, Nards! You’re a good actor![/quote]

You’re too kind, as we can see I was stiff as a board.

My excuse is that if I moved my head or the rest of my body even a foot then the director (a buddy) would tell me I was out of my light…so I had to stay still in most every shot.

I’m obviously not an actor, and my buddy just wanted friends to be in the movie.

Frank, are you really now in Maryland? I hope so! I hope to move to Baltimore in the coming year!

There was a thread here sometime ago that had a short film about the war in Iraq. It was done in a charcoal/ pen and ink kind of style. It was very well done. I’ve tried finding it but have had no luck which isn’t surprising, I’m terrible at searching for stuff on the internet.

Does someone else here remember it? I think a guy in the armed forces posted it.

Is this it?

^That’s the one D!

Thanks for finding it. I suppose it only took you half a minute to locate it…grrrrr…

Googled: iraq war animation movie.

It was the second result.

This is the one that immediately popped into my mind.

Partly because it sort of came up in a combat board thread, and also because of its quality.
It manages to be artistic without committing the two sins the majority of “short” films I have had inflicted on me commit.

A.) Being “Experimental”

B.) Being about someone’s “Personal Journey”

Combine those two and I often end up feeling like I am watching a story that I am not supposed to relate to, told in the worst way possible.

Those of you who are smarter and better human being than I may be able to get something out of a charcoal line drawing, of an interpretive dance, about sexuality, set to a sound track of Tibetan throat singing, but any meaning eludes me.

My less cerebral submissions:

Kind of cheap horror

Not deep, but funny…to me. I already admitted to being a bad person:

More “Geek Shit” appropriate, but well done Star Wars Parody

Robert A

I’m intrigued. Tell me more about this…

I don’t easily get spooked but damn @ the part where the camera cuts to the other side of the bed… lol.

This thread:

My joke/ref to the film Schwarzfahrer was made to Schwarzfahrer on page 2. I may have been over reaching with the comparison, but my sense of humor can be about as subtle and cognizant of nuance as a labrador retriever on meth.

Also Egg Head is not exactly on my favorite posters list.

Done better than the last couple of movies I have paid to see.

Lol. Can’t believe I’ve missed that thread. Not something you’d expect to happen in the Combat forum.

Ehehehe, poor Schwarzfahrer. I’m sure he knows you didn’t mean to be offensive anyway.

Interesting enough, whenever I see his username, I always think about the short movie. He probably must be an expert in fare evasion.

I’ll second that.

The Amazing Screw-On Head:

^ Not really a short: actually a pilot that never went to series. Funny, irreverent and slightly nutzo.

I saw this and thought it was worth bumping this thread over.

Also, this one pre-dates youtube, but it’s a classic
