Hi all, i was ment to be fighting before .xmas BUT ive been involved in a serious hit and run accident last saturday (me being the victium) ive ended up with;
-sprained neck.
-shocked/damaged lower back muscles.
-badly brused knees.
-damaged muscle/ligiment in shoulder (now clicks like crazy).
My big question is how the hell can i get back to that same training and flexability levels, i dont no what i should be doing or when i should go back to training (ground work and sparing will be out of the question for quite some time).
This has left me really depressed and pi$$ed of with the world.
I like that you clarified that you were the victim of a serious hit and run. Anyway, I feel for you. I hope they catch the bastard, is there much chance (witness or whatever)?
I don’t know what Irelands public health system is like, but talk to a doctor. And probably a physical therapist.
They’ll know better than anyone here on the forums. My advice, is to be patient, rehab properly and give yourself time to heal.
That’s an aspect of the public health system I haven’t considered… Say a guy is an ammy fighter, trying to work up to pro, but still holding an unrelated day job. He gets injured, whether similar to the OP, or in the ring. Goes to see his doc, doc fixes him back to ‘normal’, meaning he’s back to the level of your typical non-fighter, but has a nagging problem preventing him from getting back to 100%. In our current system, assuming he had good coverage, this wouldn’t be an issue.

You’d just have to go back to the doctor if you felt you didn’t heal 100%.
Hey all wee heads up, was with the cops on friday night and they know the guy who crashed into me, no insurance etc etc. so its gotta go through the courts now (makes me even more angery). Im going to start with the physo in a week or two, been doing all my streches etc trying to speed up the recovery. Now, BIG problem thought id try a few shoulder streches and god theres something very wrong in there, loads of deep pain in the joint cant do a single press up. IF I SEE THIS GUY IN THE STREET IM GONNA PUT HIM IN A DAM WHEEL CHAIR…
I’ll post back what the physio and my trainer says in a week or so.
Thanks for looking neil.
