Sarah Huckabee Sanders: Thoughts?

I mean a literal quid pro quo of “I’ll support you, but don’t fucking tweet about me” kind of deal.

I’m not overly concerned with the opinions of the direct descendants of Pocahontas. I find it more irritating that he felt the need to take more political potshots when he’s supposed to be honoring veterans.

I mean I know he has a history of calling PoW’s losers and all, but you’d think he’d at least pretend to respect our military.

Well (as discussed above) the Navajo Code talkers weren’t offended, nor this Native American veteran of much lesser status.

Drawing a contrast between heroes and a fakers like Warren is always appropriate.

What would be the point of her offering support if he couldn’t go public with it? Was it just to assuage his guilt?

Additionally, she is an enthusiastic Trump supporter, and seems to be the opposite of camera-shy.

Her ethnic “cred” is meaningless in the context of this utterly stupid string of sentences - Pocohontas would be very proud of Trump? That’s laugh out loud worthy.

The issue isn’t ethnicity - we’re talking about two white people whose integrity is under question. Stipulate as to Warren’s dishonesty peddling herself as a minority to advance her professional career - that still doesn’t hold a candle to the corpus of misdeeds Trump has done to advance his.

Trump’s history is pockmarked with far worse than lying on an application as to race, but that’s ok, that’s fairly in the past, and can be forgiven, it’s important to move on, it’s not disqualifying. Warren lied about her race, but is no longer lying about it, but it’s still an unforgivable sin that must be raised, ad hominem style, to discredit her every time she speaks up against the President.

Just today, Trump goes on a Tweetstorm that includes dishonestly suggesting that an intern who died at Joe Scarborough’s office met an untimely death (when it’s old news it was an unfortunate health issue and accident, not the result of any wrongdoing) - is such brazen dishonesty met with the same outrage as Warren’s deceit from 20 years ago?

Nope. Weird, right?

You don’t remember anything as the admission records we have, undergrad and law school, had her identify as white. Now, I don’t know if she has any Indian blood in her. Many people believe they do and don’t. But there is zero evidence she benefited from claiming she had Native ancestors as far as college and her career goes. There is evidence that she never benefited from those claims however. But hey, Trump also claimed that Obama was born in Kenya so if he says something is true then it must be.

The actual facts say that is not the case.

I’ll take your word for it, I’ve never looked into it. But as I said, I’m willing to stipulate to it on the basis that even if true, it’s a nothingburger when compared to the sleaze and mendacity Trump has indulged in, both in his private life and business, and since he’s been President. Again, Warren lies to get ahead 20, 30 years ago, and it’s outrageously outrageous outrage from the Trumpkins. Trump does the same, on a larger scale, and goshdarnit, that’s just Trump being Trump.

Suffice it to say, I don’t exactly get torn up over feigned outrage over Warren’s lying, even assuming it’s true.

It’s a fact she never put on her application to the college and law school she attended that she was any minority. She claimed to be white at her first university job. She was listed in the faculty directory at another university as a minority (Native American). Harvard later hired her but no one involved in the process said that she was hired because she was a supposed minority.

Maybe she lied about being part Indian or maybe it was family legend that was passed down, something that isn’t uncommon, but the claims that she used that lie or misinformation to get ahead is unsubstantiated. Why did she wait to identify as a minority until after she already was working? Harvard also recruited her so it wasn’t like she applied for a job there and said she was a minority in order to bolster her chances.

And yes, she never went backstage at a teen beauty pageant to gaze at underage girls as they changed their clothes.

Oh for fucks sake! Fuck off already!

I’m about to pull a Princess Noccalula after a conversation with you.

It clearly went public, but also not crazy over the top public. Nothing really stopped that. But if I were her, I would have negotiated an agreement where he doesn’t bring me up in tweets or other tirades as it inevitably brings stupid PR that I wouldn’t want to deal with.

Right, but under her terms. Being camera shy under Trump terms just feels like common sense.

I never saw a man get so angry he turned into a woman.

None of that strikes me as compelling. (Trump agreeing to not disclose info that is both self-exculpatory and vitiates the criticisms leveled by his opponents? Not likely, I’d say.) I suppose we’ll find out more over the course of the next few days/weeks.

How about jumped off of a cliff to escape your incessant blathering?

I’m sorry the object of your fetish earned the nickname Fauxcahontas.

Better now?

I’m sorry facts hurt your feelings, snowflake.

Doesn’t strike me as overly compelling either, as I don’t really think Trump would be able to keep his mouth shut.

OTOH, if I were (fairly?) famous ala a direct line to Pocahontas and I genuinely wanted to support Trump but even moreso didn’t want to become his talking point (not THAT hard to fathom), I would absolutely give support with the full warning that if he drags me into the spotlight to take potshots at people I’m supporting the other guy in 12 seconds flat.

If she gives that kind of quid pro quo, what’s Trump to do? Risk losing your Pocahontas line? It’s still a win for Trump to get her support, imo.

Exactly. This is the guy who couldn’t stop himself from sharing classified info with the Russians in the Oval Office.

Let’s assume this to be the case. Now that she’s come out publicly supporting him and his use of the Pocahontas line, surely you agree there’s nothing to stop Trump himself from crowing about the supposed convo, yes?

Since when has disapproval by those impacted by a line affected Trump’s willingness to spout it?

Nope. She listed herself as native American on multiple lists. She plagiarized a cookbook. She did 2 studies of medical bankruptcy that listed any bankruptcy with $1000 or $5000 in medical bills as the cause of the bankruptcy. She’s a fraud.

“and it is true that while Warren was at U. Penn. Law School she put herself on the “Minority Law Teacher” list as Native American) in the faculty directory of the Association of American Law Schools, and that Harvard Law School at one time promoted Warren as a Native American faculty member.”

Agreed, except in the case of an explicit agreement of “Don’t involve me in shit or I burn it down.” While it’s speculation for sure, it doesn’t sound like something I wouldn’t 1000% do to Trump if I were going to publicly support him.

Due to the nature of a secret quid pro quo, it’s impossible to know whether or not he’s been honoring agreements like this in the past.

Well, I’d say Occam’s Razor is cutting in my direction on this one. But like I said, we’ll find out in the not-too-distant future.
