How do other countries do it? If corporations had their loopholes closed and paid the taxes they were supposed to…A finance tax on Wall Street speculation would be a nice start. How are we paying for all the unnecessary wars that are basically breeding hatred of our country?
Is it a “loophole” when you drive the speed limit so as not to get a ticket?
From where I stand, it appears as though most people know jack-shit about corporate taxation and therefore any effective tax rate less than 100% is going to be seen as corporations taking advantage of “loopholes”.
Ya, you’re a useless idiot.
Ding ding ding, we have winner.
I’d love to hear, just one time, someone actually cite one of these nefarious “loopholes” we hear so much about.
They aren’t that hard to find if you search the internet. The real question is what happens to this extra untaxed money right now and is it necessarily bad. Worst case it goes to the CEOs profit which is invested somewhere and people benefit by jobs created by the investment. And the worst case perceived by liberals, it goes in to his cash vault that he uses to swim in.
Ya, no offense, but that’s typically the reaponse. You say they exist so it’s on you to prove it.
CEOs of C Corps have to negotiate their Comp packages like everyone else. No gold coin swimming pools…
images of Scrooge McDuck come to mind lol
Is the earned income tax credit a loophole for individual tax payers that, well, earn income?
Is the child tax credit a Loophole for tax payers with children?
Yep. I hate when rich people put their money in banks allowing me to gain access to a mortgage, car loan, small business loan etc etc.
Nice regurgitated Sanders talking point. Can you please explain what this actually means? What do you consider “Wall street speculation?” How would this tax be implemented?
So is it your contention there are no loopholes or because they are there the corporations just take advantage of them?
Sanders has talked about placing a tax(0.5%)on speculation(I.e. derivative trading)
And how will that affect the futures market, for example?
“Sanders has proposed something he calls a speculation tax, a small levy on every stock, bond or derivative sold in the United States.”
Can you see how this screws the middle class in a big way?
No not sure that I do since the major shareholders are of the 1%. And this tax would be used to fund college. So where is the screwing?
And how did this effect the markets prior? I doubt that a half percent tax will effect the market tangibly at all.
Not to mention, it would not bring in anywhere near enough money to pay for free healthcare and free college.
From the WSJ, the cost of Bernie’s plans would be ~$18 Trillion.
Solid, fact based answer.
Ummmmmm, do you have a 401(k), 403(b), an IRA, etc…?
