Ok, JMB i beleive recomended consuming 6-10 grams of DHA/EPA from fish oil caps per day, out of curiousity about how much salmon would you have to eat each day/week in order to get the benefits to insulin sensitivity. Also, I know caffine has a negative effect on insulin sensitivity but how much (if any) does ephedrine effect insulin sensitivity? I have been avoiding any stimulants pre workout because I have switched over to the new split-shake method and didnt want to lose any effect I might receive.
I’m only responding in case JMB doesn’t respond. I think he covered fat content of various species of salmon in some column so do a search on salmon. Every fish oil product I’ve seen has something like 360mg/240mg DHA/EPA (or is it vice versa?) per gram, so presumably every gram of of salmon contains 0.6 grams of DHA/EPA. You should be able to calculate grams of fat for a given weight of salmon from there. (You might need to extrapolate this from the caloric data if for some reason the data is given in calories per macronutrient using 9 kcal per gram fat and 4kcal/gram carbs and protein).
You’re right about ephedrine reducing insulin sensitivity. Check the Appetite for Construction series (the first installment, I think) where he dicusses coming off a low carb diet.
