I don’t mind taking in these terms. I think though that the hostility might only be superficial. I see each party trying to gain a foothold over the other party in popularity, which in the case of a 3rd party POTUS would actually be quite useful for legislative purposes because they would both be willing to compromise with someone that is not “the Other Side”. Should a 3rd party be in office, I think that allows consensus building and compromise, as was intended by the FFs.
In the UK we have a third party which gets a fair amount of votes.
Unfortunately its lead by a moron who says being gay is fine but gay sex isn’t. Also he looks like this:

I bet hes having tons of gay sex in public loos… Its always those types

A brief threadjack of interest to @Aragorn only (without PMs, I have no way to contact you directly):
I got the notification where you @'d me on the Biology of Race thread. I just wanted you to know I’m no longer following (or even reading) that thread, so I won’t be responding. I didn’t want you to take my non-response as a personal slight.
Thanks for the heads up sir, I appreciate it. I should probably do the same actually. I have better things do to with my time lol. It’s like a train wreck
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-russia-contacts-idUSKCN18E106
Conversations between Flynn and Kislyak accelerated after the Nov. 8 vote as the two discussed establishing a back channel for communication between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin that could bypass the U.S. national security bureaucracy, which both sides considered hostile to improved relations, four current U.S. officials said.
One of those contacts was by Viktor Medvedchuk, a Ukrainian oligarch and politician, according to one person with detailed knowledge of the exchange and two others familiar with the issue.
It was not clear with whom Medvedchuk was in contact within the Trump campaign but the themes included U.S.-Russia cooperation, the sources said. Putin is godfather to Medvedchuk’s daughter.
Veterans of previous election campaigns said some contact with foreign officials during a campaign was not unusual, but the number of interactions between Trump aides and Russian officials and others with links to Putin was exceptional.
Every time I think it can’t get crazier, it does.
Holy shit
Then there’s the fact that Flynn–while working on behalf of the Turkish government–stopped a US plan to arm Kurdish rebels in the fight against ISIS. (The Turkish govt considers the Kurds a terrorist group).
“Two former senior administration officials said it was retired Army Gen. Michael Flynn, Trump’s former national security adviser, who rejected such a move, telling the Obama team that the Trump team first wanted to conduct its own review of an ISIS strategy.”
Trump a target of a political coup
Yeah, I read that. That is despicable. Unreal.
From the link:
“But a president cannot be removed from office for arrogance and sloppiness. The Constitution sets specific grounds for impeachment. They are “treason, bribery, and other high crimes and misdemeanors.” To be impeached and removed from office, the House and Senate must find that the official committed one of these acts.”
The author needs to familiarize himself with the 25th Amendment. The relevant section:
“Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.”
The point being, the POTUS does not need to be impeached to be removed from office.
Again from the link:
“What all of the leaked stories have in common is that they were immediately beset with multiple leaks from highly placed officials meant to deeply defame President Trump.”
On this subject–from a very conservative pundit (h/t @thunderbolt23):
"[T]he President will not take any internal criticism, no matter how politely it is given. He does not want advice, cannot be corrected, and is too insecure to see any constructive feedback as anything other than an attack.
So some of the sources are left with no other option but to go to the media, leak the story, and hope that the intense blowback gives the President a swift kick in the butt. Perhaps then he will recognize he screwed up. The President cares vastly more about what the press says than what his advisers say. That is a real problem and one his advisers are having to recognize and use, even if it causes messy stories to get outside the White House perimeter." [emphasis mine]
Not going to happen.
I agree it’s very, very unlikely. My point was to rebut the link’s author’s insinuation that impeachment was the sole mechanism by which a POTUS can be removed from office.
80% of Trump coverage has been negative
Interesting (and troubling) perspective on the Donald and how his advisers are attempting to influence him. Thanks for sharing.
I do believe that if the administration collapses it will not be because of pressure from democrats and the media, but from within. As the drip-drip of the Russia story continues it’ll be interesting to see how it is defended. Surly smart politicians will not want to lose their credibility by saying one thing only to have Trump contradict them later.
Welcome. But just to be clear, @thunderbolt23 was the first to post this link, so the credit rightfully goes to him.
No credit needed or deserved - but I am glad people are reading it.
There’s a reason for this and it’s not because of the media. When every MSM outlet was covering the Comey Memo story, Fox was talking about the Clinton Foundation.
And this is what has happened over and over again. He undercuts his own staff constantly, causing them to reflect whether they will be committing career suicide by speaking publicly.
