What is starting to make you so pessimistic about the GOP’s ability to beat the President?

And Evangelicals have made it VERY clear; and for many years; what they think about Romney’s faith. So that’s not even a debatable issue.

Yet Romney beat all the other republican candidates in Nevada with evangelicals. And if you think he can’t beat Obama with the Christian right think again. Obama is screwing himself with Christians as we speak. You don’t tick off the Catholic base 7 or 8 months away from asking for their vote. I guarantee you Romney will beat Obama with Christian voters based on this one issue alone. And the fact that about 25% of the voters (most of them on the far right) think that he’s a Muslim.
By the way do you think the Jewish vote will flock to him the way they did in 2008? He burned those bridges by ignoring Israel and trying to make friends with her enemies. I know many Jewish voters and right now they are scared of Obama. This man is such a left wing ideologue he’d rather push his agenda than pander for votes, at least right now.
I swear if it were not for the MSLM Romney or Santorum would beat him in a walk.

Our favorite topic: THE MAIN STREAM LIBERAL MEDIA!!
They are not even trying to make believe that they’re fair–The cat’s out of the bag and they are going to go balls to the wall for this guy.

Yes, unfortunately it does. A lot. Still hoping for a Santorum Surge. Surge, Baby, Surge
[/quote]
What should really bother you is the thought of Obama as President for another four years. I’d take any of the republicans over him. Yet, while I think Romney has the best chance of beating him I doubt that he will.

I am not sure i can vote for Romney in NOV. It was difficult to vote for McCain 4 years ago. Most def will not be putting a Romney/whoever bumper sticker on my gas guzzling SUV. I am holding out until Super Tuesday where I think Santorum will pick up a lot of momentum.
Romney will probably pick a Dem for VP to balance the ticket since he is sooooo conservative.
Would help if Gingrich dropped out…one can only dream
“…Yet Romney beat all the other republican candidates in Nevada with Evangelicals…”
Most likely, this is a fact that proves my point, Zeb. I would be willing to bet that a lot of them were not “FOR” Romney votes, but “AGAINST” Obama votes. There are people who out there who passionately want to beat the President…and would give up their First Born to so.
NO group (including blacks and Jews) will come out as passionately for the President as they did in 2008. So I agree.
And the idea that the “MSLM” will “turn the tide” of this election is something I don’t agree with. (But you know that!)

Gingrich is on a vendetta ride and he’s in for the duration. Santorum wins a state or two he’s in for the duration as well.
You did the proper thing voting for McCain in 08. I hated to vote for the guy too for many reaons. I knew he was a loser when he got the nomination. But Romney is not McCain. Don’t fool yourself McCain didn’t lose because he was too moderate. He lost because he was a lousy candidate. A gray haired man with a strange sounding voice. If you want another McCain Gingrich is your man.
For umpteenth time, the average American voter comes out of their cocoon about 30-60 days before the general election gives a quick look to each candidate and then votes for the best looking most charismatic guy. There…I said it AGAIN. And I stand behind it. And history backs me up.
And if you think that’s shallow half the country doesn’t even vote. Do you think for a second any of them are nit picking issues in February like we are here on this board? LOL…stop it man. Keep in mind we have Obama right now, not because he was more qualified than John McCain but because he had a great slogan “Hope & Change” and was the taller better looking more charismatic candidate.
Just look at it like this:
About a third of all the people who actually vote are paying attention right now. As we get closer another 10% or so will jump on board. Then as I said above the rest, which is the majority will start paying attention 30 to 60 days out.
The average voter is not at all like you and I and the other political junkies on this site. Just keep saying that to yourself over and over again until you start to pay attention.
Romeny is the only man who can defeat Obama.
Slim…about Newt…
Newt has an ego bigger than his waist…and the Pride to match.
He is PISSED at Romney…and party-be-damned. It’s now about taking down Romney and creating havoc from now to the Convention.

You don’t have to agree with it. You don’t have to agree that today is Monday either. When I go into my Chiropractors office fish through the magazines and see either Obama or his wife on the front page of 30% of all the magazines I know who the media is for. When I turn on TV and see the comics (Letterman, Leno, Stewart, Colbert, Marr etc) abusing all the republican candidates and giving the President a free ride on a lusy economy I know who the media is for. When I turn on CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC and all the rest (excluding FOX they lean right) and hear the tilted news reports I know who the media is for.
Just look back to the way they beat up Joe Biden becaue he looked like a doddering fool during half his speeches…NO WAIT! He got a free pass the media gang raped Sarah Palin!!
So save your breath and look at some of the unbiased reports on which way the media tips. And if you don’t think that will give Obama at least 3 pts you are living in la la land my friend!
I prefer “Camelot”…!

I think Romney’s faith should be a legitimate issue/concern for everyone - not just evangelicals. But you think anyone is going to raise polygamy, LDS doctrine, Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, the Mountain Meadows Massacre, the Utah War etc? As I said before Romney is untouchable on all this. It’s the sort of stuff the liberals like to defend. Brigham Young had 57 wives and murdered 120 men, women and children? “Vengeance is mine and I just had some” he said to Wilson Woodruff? So what? Stop discriminating against people. Santorum on the otherhand will be portrayed as a wild-eyed maniac intent on imposing theocracy.
EDIT: I don’t dislike Mormons as people BTW. I have known a couple and they were very decent people. In 99% of cases these things wouldn’t be relevant but he is running for the highest office in the world - he will be the most powerful man in the world.

I think it will go past the convention. I see Gingrich sending Pizza’s to Romney’s house at 1:00 AM.

First, I think we live in a country that should not judge a man’s faith. That is his own business it’s called freedom. Secondly, if you were in a horrible car accident (may it never happen) and you were rushed to the hospital and the doctor was just about to administer the care you needed to save your life would you look up and ask him what faith he is? No I don’t think you would. What you would be doing is thanking God that there is a qualified doctor on hand who can save your life. Well that’s how I look at the mess that this country is in. I don’t care about race, creed, sex, or sexual preference! We need someone who understands that economy, has actual business experience and can turn this country around. And most importantly someone who can beat Obama - That man is Mitt Romney and I don’t care what religion he is and neither should you!
Listen zeb. I told you I’d endorse this slimeball in the weeks following super Tuesday or whatever the frig you do over there. In the meantime I’m not playing any games. Romney does not have the best plan to fix the economy nor anything else. Cut the bullshit.

Bullshit? Well I’ll tell you something my friend let’s forget about politics, religion, left and right and all the other nonsense. If you had a very large business to run would you put someone like Newt Gingrich in charge of it? Other than trying to nail the secretary what do you think he’d accomplish? He has ZERO executive experience and ZERO experience in the private sector. Very much like Obama before he was elected to the Presidency.
On the other hand Mitt Romney ran the Olympics. In fact, he pulled it out of the hole it was in. He’s also made mega bucks in his own private firm. He understands the economy and he was the chief executive of a state (the only one in the race).
Who do you want running that large business of yours?
I know who I’d want. And that’s who we need to turn this economy around, someone who actually understands business and finance.

A liberal Democrat could run the Olympics. They also run successful businesses and firms. They’ve also held governorships across the nation.

And that is exactly my point! Give me a man who can beat Obama and has the experience to turn this economic mess around and I’ll vote for him regardless of almost anything else.
