I saw a documentary on Roman Polanski that went into depth on this. First, I’m not sure he knew she was 13 and from the documentary she was portrayed as acting like she was very sexually experienced.
On the other hand, there was some stuff in there that made it sound like Polanski had a thing for children. I thought it was just a weird European, artistic eccentricity, but its still pretty fucked up.
Additionally, there was just a big thing about the IRS being able to get detailed account information on what used to be private and protected Swiss banks. I’m wondering if that has anything to do with it as well, first the Swiss government and the reluctant banks let the US government in, and now they are extraditing a criminal to the US. ?.

There is no statue of limitations on this one. He has already been tried and convicted. He fled while waiting on Sentencing. Anjelica Huston was in the house when it happed. She stated that the girl did not look like she was 13. Should could have been 25 she was that type of girl. What the hell does that mean?[/quote]
What I meant regarding age was that some people are saying he’s 76, he shouldn’t have to spend the end of his life in jail. To which I say, tough luck, he shouldn’t have run.
I was not aware that a sentence has been passed already, but in that case, as you say, statute of limitations doesn’t apply anyway.

The statute of limitations wouldn’t be an issue even if this was at an earlier stage. The SOL is tolled (suspended) if the defendant purposefully flees the jurisdiction after he’s charged or indicted.
