This is why I still believe you should not be able to vote unless you own property (and I mean own not leasing). That way only people who have accomplished something that requires saving and paying on time would get the chance to mess this country up…

Also, anyone recieving govt money should not be allowed to vote, that ends entitilements right there… also means teachers and govt employees dont get a say in how we spend others money…

I hope this includes firefighters, the police and the military.

Cali is fucked, because Prop 23 failed, so now the Global Warming Solutions Act will go into effect. This was even more important than the governors race. Hello Europe, I am so psyched to see all the Liberal hippies who voted for this shit cry when they see $9/gallon gas. And if you think I am kidding, a Liberal think tank came up with that number.

I’m fine with the entitlement idea, but the property-owning idea is a little silly to me.

Owning property =/= accomplishing something

How about being 25 or having a 4yr degree or owning land.

I’m definitely OK with raising the voting age. Fresh-faced, teenage punks have no business telling me how the world works.

I think owning property would be easy to over come by selling parcels the size of a quarter
This discussion goes back to the founding fathers , I think every body that participates in society should be able to vote

Political Think tank = oxymoron

Just think about that, Libs from Berkeley told the California Air Resources Board (CARB) that implementing the regulations would cause serious madness.

…from Berkeley.

With Obama still in office and the democrats controlling the Senate the only thing we’ll get for the next two years is gridlock - THANK GOD!

Would gridlock for the next two years not be detrimental to the republicans? Now that they’ve made their gains, if nothing happens over the next two years, will people not be pissed?
Gridlock is better than Cap and Trade. Gridlock will allow the economy to fix itself.

I contend that if they would have allowed the housing bubble to pop and not try to reinflate it, allowed a couple financial institutions to fail, not given stimulus money away running us deeper in debt then we would have hit bottom and would be in the middle of a strong recovery. As it stands we are still in a mess.

Everyone must understand Washington cannot plan the economy and expect any success.

Anyone think Rand Paul has the stones to Philibuster the raising of the Debt ceiling?

I know it sounds as if the only option would be global economic collapse, but what if the Government had to find another way out? Like lowering the Debt quickly to remain UNDER the debt ceiling?

I think he just might do it. And I also think that when we haveto do something it has a better chance of getting done than when there is no time limit.
I agree wise one. I am actually hoping the guy has the stones to “do everything in his power”. I mean he did say those words, so i’ll just leave it at that. I hope I don’t have to call him a liar.

His father is a big phony so I do not hold high expectations for the son. The dad is notorious for getting pork bills passed in committee and behind closed doors and then making a token vote against the spending bill he knows will pass.

His dad is a rich political opportunist that cashes in on well meaning but naive people. I hope the son is better.

Does that mean that people that build roads, schools, weapons systems and prisons shouldn’t vote? How about there subcontractors? Spouses? Does that mean that prison guards, soldiers and cops shouldn’t vote?

If you belong to a union you should not be allowed to vote.

Gridlock is good, it means my taxes don’t go up.
