rock and roll?

I mostly listen to The Band, Little Feat, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, J. Geils Band, Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, the first 3 Jackson Browne albums, Neil Young, anything with Clarence White on guitar, Gram Parsons, and George Jones.

Anyone listen to those?

As a huge metalhead, I just don’t get nu metal bands. I try, but I can’t. THere is no structure to their music that I can pick out, it all sounds the same. ANd whre are the great singers? At 17 I thought metallica would always be my favorite band, and now their stuff sucks and has sucked for the last 14 yrs…

FOr new music, rock wise: some Kid Rock- he’s a shitty musician and not much of a talent but he does have a few good songs. Ditto Limp Bizkit. Queens of the Stone Age are good and Black Label Society kicks ass BUT do they count as current music since Zakk is Ozzy’s guitarist? Prob. not, since they seem to be more 80s-90s than today.

I like a lot of club music, house, techno, whatever. I like some hiphop, esp. Wyclef, and some scattered songs here and there.

Well that explains some things about you  But hey, to each his own. You listen to just about all rock bands I can’t stand. I do like the motown guys tho, and I THINK I know who jackson browne is. Anyway…

Who today is having the impact of a Pink Floyd?

i think radiohead stuck its hand in that game but the skill levels are not even close. i love pink floyd with all my heart/soul/brain…

Eventually the pendulum will swing, and you will see a new group of high quality musicians come out and cause the next evolution. People who can push the envelope with intelligence and creativity.

I just hope it doesn’t take twenty years. Regardless, every few years people get tired of what is out, and music changes. For better or worse.

Okay… The Mage… 20 years form now, Britney Spears on stage, after her 30th boob job, lip syncing a half second behind her music… who wouldn’t pay to see that??

And just on a side note, the reciever in my gym today screwed up and the volume just started climbing and wouldn’t stop, and my gym plays some pretty crappy music, but when it is played loud enough that all the “fitness clubbers” stop and look around wondering whats wrong, almost any music at that volume is going to get the energy flowing. Sadly somebody fixed it and I was forced to listen to mindless hip hop at normal volumes.

New rock and roll? Two words:
THE DARKNESS
