Thanks for the reply.

How do you rebut the comment that Obama needs more time to cleanup Bush’s mess?
“One nice thing about the situation I find myself in is that I will be held accountable. You know, I’ve got four years. And, you know, a year from now I think people are going to see that we’re starting to make some progress. But there’s still going to be some pain out there. If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition”

Guess who.

double ditto. Also, I’d add that his handling of this Ambassador killing is beyond the pale. I’m not commenting on Mitt’s perhaps ill-advised political opportunism or verbal misstep here at all, but Obama is the man in charge and I find his response…lacking, shall we say. It is unconscionable. I think this further demonstrates that he has no business at the helm of our country.
Can you elaborate on this?
Hmm. What specifically should I elaborate on? In the US Ambassador Killed thread AC pretty much laid out what I feel should be done and you agreed with him. I feel like another president would have handled the matter in a much more decisive manner…I basically have zero faith that Obama will do anything properly. Now, I can admit my bias against him–clearly I am not planning to vote for him, but I don’t feel that it is without experiential support from the past 4 years or so.

You mean you’re not impressed with his lack of a good foreign policy and the fact that four years later he’s still blaming Bush?

Are you saying that this is poor leadership?

RACIST!

Gotcha. Just asked out of curiosity.

No worries. We don’t tend to agree politically, but I’ve always really liked your approach to posting and reasoning regardless of whether I agree with your conclusions or not. You’re one of my favorites here in PWI actually.

Regarding response to this Ambassador killing, and I am still trying to find out whether this is validated information or not, there are rumblings that Obama had fairly reliable intel 48 hours ahead of time that something was being planned against the Ambassador and did nothing. This is what I was referring to in terms of “unconscionable”. You do not leave your diplomats out to dry like that, no matter if there’s a larger political goal you have or not. However, I still don’t know for sure if that advanced intel is a valid story yet.

Very kind words Aragorn, and the feeling is mutual.

With regard to the possibility that Obama failed to act on intelligence, that is pretty much what I was wondering about when I asked you to elaborate. If it turns out to be true, I’m with you completely. I don’t see how ignoring a threat could ever have an upside.
