Fan parents are cool like that.
I once worked with a guy who became a first-time dad and said he convinced his wife to name their baby Logan. Then he added, “I just hope she never finds out it’s from Wolverine.”
A new kid from Aussie joined our high school called Wayne Kerr. His name was called out at assembly and the teacher tried to leave a great big pause between wayne and kerr…but all it did was emphasise the fact that it sounds like “wanker” to hoards of cruel, immature little bastards.
There was also a kid called Danny Donghi, he started up a whole nick name trend, because at age 10 or whatever we were at the time, we thought it was hilarious to run around calling each other Dong-eye instead of our real names.
Hey Dong-eye! you coming to the movies with us? Fuck off Dong-eye! where is Dong-eye today? did you do your homework Dong-eye! etc, etc.
There was also a girl called Anika Scmedikis, which was just basically a great name to repeat over and over.

John Wayne’s real name is Marion Morrison.
Many female names used to be male names.
Ashley
Stacy
Tracy
Kelly
Shannon
Gabriel
Marion
I’m sure there are lots more.
Most of those would be considered androgynous names, like Cameron. Gabriel would fall under masculine as it has a feminine equivalent (Gabrielle). Then you’ve got the angel Gabriel (male).
And somebody involved with Wayne’s career decided ‘Marion’ wasn’t a manly movie moniker. The name change probably made the difference between fame and fortune. It certainly wasn’t his acting. He just pips Nicholas Cage to ‘most overrated recipient of an Academy award’.
