Returning to MMA/BJJ

Here it goes, I am returning to mma/bjj training this week after a 8 month break. The break was due to my erratic work schedule and family. However, the bug had never left. I have always been lifting weights fairly consistently for the last 12 years.

During the last 8 months,I have completed the WSSB II and currently I am on the second week of CT’s Superhero Program. I have also been running intervals at least three times a week.

So after a 8 month period of doing strength training and running, what type of program should I follow now, that I will be training for an upcoming Grapplers Quest in November?

The AOM program. Ass on mat.

Donut pretty much nailed it…after an 8-month layoff, you’ll want to focus most of your time training, especially if you plan to compete in November.

Matt time and interval fitness work.

1min sparring with 5 fresh opponents will really make your stamina on the mat solid. My Judo mate does this.

Koing

Doughnut is right, Eat Sleep and Train on the mat.

As a few have said. In the next few months, keep the main thing, the main thing. EG: Spend a lot of time rolling on the floor.

A couple of short weight sessions a week will be all that is needed. When I’m flat out training for MMA I just do the Rep Day for WSFSB and the ME Upper day. I throw 3 sets of squats and GHR into both days too. It keeps me pretty fresh and strong. There is no popint losing the strength and size you’ve worked for in that 8 month lay off.

Hope that helps and you go into the comp a beast.

go to the institute of human performances website and buy the essence of program design book.start peaking your body with that book as a referance manual.find out how long your rounds are and start sparring/rolling say 50% at the round time for like 8-10 rounds then each week as the time gets closer up the intensity until you are at 100% one week out from the comp.the last week sleep good and eat clean…well thats what we do alot hope it helps…
