It’s job creation. All of those blue and green haired kids who go by the pronouns they and them and major in gender studies will have jobs after all. I wish I were joking but I just went through it.
Parse his words carefully - most “persistent” threat. That’s not the same thing as saying the “greatest” or “most imminent” threat. So what he’s saying may be true, but it isn’t particularly relevant right now. White supremacists are bad people to be sure, but they aren’t the ones destroying the cores of our major cities.
They have an historical legacy and head start over other groups.
Perhaps a major difference is that Antifa is not hiding. It’s all over social media telling the world its plans (not very smart for a terror group) and where they will be. White supremacist groups are more likely to operate more like a traditional terror group. It’s sort of like comparing a group of Palestinian kids throwing rocks at Israeli tanks to Al Queda.
I don’t have inside info so I have no idea how serious or capable some of these white supremacist groups are. Personally, I don’t believe they have the power to bring back slavery or lynch people freely. They are not turning back the clock with regard to most Americans’ views on race relations. They may be a physical danger but they are not an ideological one.
Here is the key distinction I see that is really meaningful:
While Antifa/BLM, at the moment, presents a limited physical threat to most people, they have more or less won the battle for the hearts and minds of our cultural elites. Another thing that is particularly alarming is that Antifa/BLM is essentially totalitarian in its aims. Ibram Kendi, one of the darlings of the woke intelligentsia, essentially advocates the creation of an American Stasi to make sure people don’t engage in speech deemed unacceptable. This ideology has no room for dissent or critical examination; indeed, to dissent is to mark oneself as deserving either re-education or banishment from society. This threat is not merely hypothetical. Even now, should your employer decide to have diversity training that pushes this ideology, you have two choices: acquiesce, or get ready to be unemployed.
The constituency for bringing back slavery or lynching is pretty much zero. The most white supremacists can achieve is the occasional mass shooting - i.e., Dylan Roof. Those events are horrible, but they do nothing whatsoever to win anyone over to white supremacist ideology. Most likely the opposite.
This is big with the BLM crowd. It is a way to keep emotions boiling, which means that it is harder to have a conversation about the facts and the legal issues.
This is not unique to BLM and Antifa, this is what the left is going for with regards to many issues. Justin Trudeau, Canada’s socialist dictator, passed a law a few years ago requiring employers to use transgender pronouns like “zhe” or “xer” or whatever the hell some loonies want to be called. This issue is what made Jordan Peterson famous, arguing that this is compelled speech.
Cullors also admits that the very first thing BLM leaders do when they hear of a “murder” is to pray to the spirits and “pour libation.” Again, she emphasized, this is not just about “racial and social justice.” “At its core, it’s a spiritual movement,” she continued. “You can’t pretend like that work is just organizing work. That’s, you know, that’s some serious stuff.”
The whole “say his name” mantra also has deep spiritual significance, according to Cullors. “When we say the names, right, so we speak their names, we say her name, say their names, we do that all the time that, you kind of invoke that spirit, and then those spirits actually become present with you,” she explained, revealing something that virtually none of the “useful idiots” attending BLM rallies understand.
Taylor first found notoriety in Las Vegas, where he was sentenced in 2000 to more than five years in prison, serving little more than a year, the Seattle Times previously noted.
First I would like to thank the democrats and the media for encouraging the violence last night. 2 cops have been shot, another, somebody attempted to burn alive…
Thanks to all the politicians, celebrities and pundits who have encouraged the violence in the streets. We’re the ones who have to live with it, while they get to live in gated communities with private security.
Trump would have to declare the ‘Insurrection Act’ to ‘deal’ with these situations. It’s a last resort.
Unfortunately, justice takes time. They have to gather evidence, make a case and then get the warrant. They have been doing that.
And DHS deputized the Oregon State Police as Federal Marshalls, so that any arrests they make, go in front of a federal court with federal judges and federal prosecutors. But the OSP cannot be in Portland all the time. And it would surprise me if Gov. Brown keeps them out now since they have been deputized. God forbid she protect the citizens.
Andy Ngo, a hero in my book, has been publicizing the mug shots and pictures of people arrested, who feel they are getting now targeted, some have lost their jobs. So by his work, some of the low level troublemakers have been neutralized.
Barr is looking at charging some of these rioters with sedition and including mayor’s Ted Wheeler and Durkin with possible charges. But the fed has to be sure when taking this type of action.
In other words, if the local leaders would step up and solve this, then Trump wouldn’t have to do anything. But to override their authority, Trump has to go heavy handed. I am not against it, but I understand the hesitancy.
Honestly, no amount of detente is going to solve this problem right now.
The only way this gets crushed is a mass-casualty event. I don’t want that to happen, but I think it’s inevitable unless a miracle happens.
Oh yeah! I forgot about him. It’s hard to see through the flames of people’s business going up.
A “Street Czar”. That’s too funny.
Let’s take a real, actual pimp and instead of arrest him for prostitution and trafficking women and pay him $150k to be a ‘street czar’.
Who ever came up with this idea deserves a medal. When you think you’ve seen the worst of human stupidity, then this happens.
Hey, Seattle voted for this, they keep voting for this, they minimize and excuse the violence and rioters, they deserve it.
My apologies to the Seattleans who do not support it, I know there are some sensible people in Seattle, just not enough.
