How the fuck can you watch ‘The Thing’ and actually like it? I tried watching it once but when the really messed up scenes started I just couldn’t bear it. I just can’t derive any sort of entertainment from a film that has excessively disturbing scenes in it.

Honestly, if that’s your hang up, the movie is by no means dominated by “excessively disturbing scenes” … It’s more of a study in paranoia than anything
But hey, if that’s your bag, that’s fine. Some people don’t like movies like The Thing

Take your tampon out, Nancy
The Thing is one of my favourite films. This prequel is either going to be absolutely incredible or horrific. Hopefully there will be lots of shocking metamorphoses but no shitty CGI. Those 30 year old transformations look more real to me than a lot of modern day special effects.

werd.
Think of the 80’s Aliens and Predators compared to the shit churned out the past couple years… and cross your fingers.

And I stand by my choice proudly, despite all the criticism…while you remain short.

You serious with this? Find me another movie that went into human paranoia that well and that entertaining. By the end of the movie, it is still unclear who the alien is. That doesn’t happen by accident. It takes good writing and good acting.
If you hate the genre as a whole, then why comment on it when the problem is likely just you?
i have no issue with a judge dred remake… as long as future generations don’t touch rambo: first blood…

Also, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” would be a great remake (again, provided the actors are top notch - perhaps teaming up Pitt and Norton once again). [/quote]
ID this is a great suggestion, another one of my all time favorite westerns.

Cool, perfect timing right before they sign the NFL CBA. Stop hijacking thread, can resume talk in the NFL thread. Good to see you back man.
thanks brah… but seriously these remakes are getting ridiculous… it seems like there’s no original ideas in the movie industry anymore…
i just hope they never touch the terminator series… well maybe they can remake the 3rd one…

Dude, they will touch EVERYTHING soon…because most of these guys don’t know anything about movies before the date they turned 5 years old. That means they have tons of shit to choose from since no one is paying attention.
You have people who didn’t even know about movies like The Thing who are judging other movies like they are top film critics.
The lack of knowledge of what came before is why they can get away with it like this.
They already know all of the people who were kids when the first Total Recall came out will be really skeptical about this.
*sigh sadly this seems to be the case… any hope there’ll be a luke cage film?
if michael jai white was a better actor i wouldn’t mind casting him in that role…

Indeed. They aren’t even leaving earth in the new Total Recall. What kind of BS is that.
The whole Spiderman, Superman, and Incredible Hulk do-overs are awful too. That’s what the Marvel and DC studios get for listening to the internet.
