Recommended filter type and size for carrier and essential oils

Hi,

I’ve concocted a hair oil but I want to filter it before using it. What is the best pore size and type of filter can I use? I’m waiting on MCE filter membrane with a 0.45 um pore size. But I’m afraid that it might be too small that it’ll filter out the important components from the oil, or is that even possible? And when it comes to cosmetic oils is it important to keep it sterile? And how can that be achieved.

I’ll gladly take any help and suggestions. Thank you in advance!

Every brewer I know has used a .22um filter for their gear and peptides.

I only make my own L-Carnitine and filtering was a bitch, but I used .22um filters as well, and will use them again for my next batch.

You dont want solids in your carrier. Thats why you heat it up so that it reaches it’s melting point.

IDK what “cosmetic oils” are.

Again, im not a brewer, thats just my understanding.

Dick injections.

I’m generally just referring to oils used topically. In my case I use it on my scalp for hair growth.

I don’t imagine those need much filtration honestly. skin absorption is pretty bad for most things.

Like, you can get dipped in gasoline and be okay so long as it doesn’t get inside you.

If you’re strictly placing the product on your skin/scalp I wouldn’t be overly concerned about sterility. Our skin does a good job keeping bacteria out. Even if you did produce a sterile batch how do plan to maintain sterility after every application? You can’t use a lid that you take on and off.
