You dribble on about all kinds of shit, like foreign aid, which the US gives little of, per capita, considering how rich it is, and not supporting tin-pot 3rd world hell-holes, which is ironic, considering how many 3rd world dictators and military juntas America has propped up with money and weapons over the years.

Basically, your post is retarded.

That’s right.

How much aid is Japan giving out–per capita? Germany? Russia…

We still lead the world so get off your America sucks soap box. If you look for fault and the negative in everything, you are sure to find it.

It’s really quite simple. If you aren’t going to support us, why should we support you. I have no problem with their decision to support us or not. Don’t be reaching out though once you’ve made that decision.
Might want to check your numbers buddy. We give the most money all in all, but in comparison to what we make we are not even in the top 20.

It all depends on how you look at it, because either way we donate more than anyone else. But its not even a fraction of what we have. Get your facts straight, dont recessitate propaganda.

I read the post as being simplistic and being more for imagery than reality. I think it rings true as to what alot of people feel. We cover alot of asses out there, and those that don’t return the favor in times of need should be cut off.

Did you read this like Sen. Kennedy was going to try to introduce it or something?

It’s easy to take reads like these and then put reality up against them. That was not the original intent.
Thank you. I appreciate that some people understood the original intent of my post.

deanosumo, when I posted that paragraph about you being Japanese and the subject of my post telling people to read only if they’re American - you do understand that I was joking right? We are allowed to joke around on the Politics and World Issues board, correct? Its not against the rules or anything?

Jkesk-

Again have to ask. What does this mean in relation to the topic? FDR’s claim that politics leaves nothing to chance and a quote from the “Grand Master of the Supreme Mother Order of Freemasons”.

Seriously in your own words can you link the two to our topic .I have seen your posters but this is a real question. What is the link you see and why is it relevant to this discussion?

excellent post

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if G.W. got up and made that speech. It’s the kind of simplistic policy that he could get richer off. I wish I could just say, “America, fuck yeah!” but I wasted all that money on political science and foreign relations classes at university. I understand the frustration, and I wish it was all that simple.

Fucking soccer and the diplomats is simple though, just do it.

dean,

You and I don’t agree on much.

However, before you go to Thailand, please check the track of that big ass hurricane.

It’s right outside Taiwan now. Please make sure it isn’t going to continue on to your area.

Never been to Thailand, but looks like the water table is pretty low.

Take care,

We give more foreign aid than any other country in the world. Some of it to countries that were once our enemies, and they do little to lend a helping hand to us. When the Twin Towers fell, I did not see France, Germany or Russia helping clear the debris did you?

America rich? You mean the national debt is gone? Unemployment is down all of a sudden? I don’t think so, not with foreigners coming to this country and given a 7 year tax break.

I spent 4 years in the Marines, and no matter what we back each other up, whether it’s good or bad decision. So what’s wrong with your “allies” backing you up even if it’s a bad call?

Adrian Griffin
GET STRONGER!!!

As a Canadian I was somewhat offended by being placed on list #2, I mean shit man we gave you Pamela Anderson and Captain Kirk!

I just couldn’t figure it out… but then last night I watched Team America- World Police and everything is much clearer now.

“America… fuck yeah!”

Wouldn’t it be great to turn on the TV and hear any US President, democrat or rebublican, give the following speech?

My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of Iraq regime has been
completed.
Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our
mission in Iraq is complete.
This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American
forces from Iraq. This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now
to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries
which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is
short. The United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria, Australia, and Poland are
some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains everyone not on the first list. Most of the
world’s nations are on that list. My press secretary will be
distributing copies of both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those
nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved
during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the
Iraqi war.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world
Hell-holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France.

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this
money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home.
On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we
will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face
of the earth.

Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France, or maybe China.
I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with
France, Germany, and Russia. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are
retiring from NATO as well. Bon chance, mes amis.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN
diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid
parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded
and crushed. I don’t care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You
creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets
tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over
to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York .

A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are
likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to
try not pissing us off for a change.

Mexico is also on List 2. President Fox and his entire corrupt
government really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple
extra tank and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going
to put em? Yep, border security. So start doing something with your oil.

Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA
treaty - starting now.

We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we’ll be drilling for
oil in Alaska - which will take care of this country’s oil needs for
decades to come. If you’re an environmentalist who opposes this
decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there.
They care.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens.
Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, “darn
tootin.”

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the
world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on
the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America. It is time to
eliminate homelessness in America. It is time to eliminate World Cup
Soccer from America. To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thanks
guys. We owe you and we won’t forget.

To the nations on List 2, a final thought: You might want to learn to
speak Arabic.
God bless America. Thank you and good night.
If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English,
thank a soldier.
Obviously the rantings of someone who is completely victimized by corporate propaganda. So far from reality, it goes to show how effective the propaganda campaign is working.

The countries who were against the war most likely won’t be attacked for that very reason.

Funny about the Mexican President since it is this government who helped put it into place along with many other 3rd world dictators.

It’s time to see through the dupcitous benevelonce this country leaders tries to put forth. Terrorists are absolutely fine if they are doing the biddings of the Washington beltway and huge multnational conglomerates. If they don’t tow the line then they are considered a threat and then labeled as real terrorists.

Some of the largest terrorist organizations are run right out of Washington D.C.

If history teaches us anything, it is that some one country has to be the world cop. This cop will appear as blunt, arrogant, and demanding. That’s okay – then the scum in the world think twice about acting up.

Look at what happened when the world was not policed! Hitler came to power, while Britain was passing us the baton. Look at the dark ages after Rome fell. Somebody has got to do this job! Want it to be a prick-nation? The world is very lucky that a benevolent USA took over. Imagine the world under the hegemony of Der Fuhrer!

Anyways–my facts are straight–buddy. I said we gave the most and we do. You, in fact, even said so in your post condeming me for “recessitating propagada”–whatever that means. I never said anything about per capita, that was deans input.

As I’ve stated above:

Read this for what it is. It’s imagery and maybe a little whimsical as to how some/most people feel about who covered our backs and who didn’t. Those of you that got your undies/panties in a bundle need to relax. This is NOT reality ok. Lifticus–think about it and the rest of you as well. Why all the serious bullshit over a fictional short story/speech.

You must be alot of fun at parties!

I tend to disagree with catch-all pieces like this. Whoever wrote this article doesn’t understand the contours of the modern political environment. We live in a truly global era (cliche, I know, but true). America exists as the hegemonic power. Our success depends on our ability to police the global marketplace. The US, as the hegemon, benefits the most from free trade, open borders, and neoliberal policy measures. These free trade agreements are built upon a robust global welfare system. If other nations can’t achieve a solid baseline of living conditions, how can the ever expanding pie of global wealth increase? It’s these sort of open border policy measures, and the implementation of foreign aid as a policy device that has created the stable environment which exists in the post WWII era. The days of colonization and isolation are over - these two factors lie at the causal root of WWI and WWII. Period. Material resources are not where the bargaining chips are any longer. Service based economies and intellectual property are the keys to success. The Far East has become such a focal point for economists and political analysts primarily because of China, Korea, Singapore etc.'s ability to develop a “core” based economy, having moved away from the traditional competitive advantages found in “periphereal” nations.

It’s this sort of ignorance - ignoring the fundamental, multilateral nature of the world - that may spell disaster for the US in the near future. How authors can spout this sort of uninformed BS is beyond me. Even a passing familiarity with modern political economics theory and a brief perusal of the New York Times or gasp the Economist reveals how flawed this sort of attitude is.

What a horrible post, really, I feel dirty just having read that and am ashamed I live in a world were such opinions are so common.

Great pull out of Iraq and just leave the mess you created.

Don’t let it bring you down forever. This forum is well known for it’s extremist responses. To those who reacted by claiming superior political intellectualism as to the fault of said statement, I hope you realize how foolish you looked. Not that your beliefs are foolish, just your response to this particular thread was foolish. You can not expect a fictional article/message to stand up to non-fictional/actual models. It was to simply convey someones feelings.

This was not some actual legislation or intent of some high ranking administrative official. Get over it and get over yourselves. Geez.

Keep posting Chis

Quite the contrary Sasquatch. This article has just been pushed through the Senate, and Bush has stated repeatedly that he is behind this 100%. In fact he composed it under a pen-name.
Realy though Chris, humor and comedy don’t mix too well with the politics forum. Thats why I keep my posts in this arena limited to personal attacks and the babble of a lunatic.(j/k:)

It’s too bad that humor and comedy can’t be used more often in this forum.
Not everything has to be as serious as global thermo-nuclear near destruction.

However, I shall heed your advice and keep my responses limited to personal attacks on those who don’t believe exactly as I do.

Thank you for informing me how close this is to resolution. I also was unaware that this was penned by our President under a pen name. Just when you think you have a handle on a situation–you learn you don’t. Thanks again!
