- Why is it famous?

It’s a Webley break top revolver,as for the other two questions do you mean unique about it in general,or the one pictured in particular?

Close. It’s a special type of Webley. Unique as in unique design, not this particular weapon.

The cylinder looks different to the more run of the mill ones, but I don’t know the why,or if that has anything to do with its uniqueness.I wait to find out.

It does, but I will give others a chance before ruining it, my dear Miles Archer.

Of course.‘I wait patiently’ would have been a better way to put it.
Is it an ‘automatic’ revolver?
Should have known from the markings on the cylinder which help rotate to the next round, but the safety gives it away.
Oh, and it was the first automatic revolver.

The pistol is a “Webley-Fosbey Automatic Pistol”
It is the first, and one of the few, automatic revolvers, and a favorite of British Airmen in WWI, came in .45 (six shot) or .38 (8 shot) My grandfather was on the receiving end of one. (He flew for the Germans.)
The gun is famous because it is referenced in the Maltese Falcon. Sam Spade (played by Humpfrey Bogart) identifies the pistol used to kill his partner (Miles Archer) as a Webley-Fosbey Automatic, .38.
One of the best English-language movies, ever (along with Casablanca, which is better).

Shame this weapon never was utilized by armed forces. Should be resurrected and used for CQB/SWAT in my opinion.

It looks a lot like my Saiga bullpup shotgun, which I bought because it was absurd.

Nope. I don’t know much about either one but here is the close up of the inscription on the blade.
The brown shown here we used to use to make kindling for camping lol. My Grandpa gave them to me when I was a kid and took an intrest in knives. I have a small collection of knives that aren’t worth anything but a couple are kinda cool and unique.
He also gave me an old flintlock that he made into a lamp. The trigger action is still as strong as the day it was made. No idea how old it is, for a flint lock it seems short.
This is the inscription on the black one. A Marine Corp bayonet. Probably one out of a billion made lol.

I think it’s a Pancor Jackhammer

You are correct. I’ve always been interested in automatic shotguns as far as raw power is concerned. The AA12 is probably the most promising these days. I believe the USMC might be adopting it, or at least there was talk about it a few years back. Fuck the Geneva Convention.
Here’s a vid of the AA12 firing high explosive shells. Pretty devastating.
Oh, off topic and I’m sure everyone and their mother on here has seen this one, but it’s a favorite of mine.
My father gave me this the other day. I’m curious to know wtf it is. I want to research it on my own but I have no idea where to even start. It used to be a lamp lol.
I can’t see any markings or stamps, just the odd decorative design on the brass and the stock. It’s covered it crud that I expect to be paint and shelack.
Any ideas?
