T-Nation Quote of the Day…Aussie Style
Here is a quote from an Australian news paper called “the age”.
It taken from a opinion piece from a bloke who no doubt many australians are familiar with…Mark Latham.
For the rest of T-Nation who are unfamilar with Mark Latham, he is a former leader of the Australian Labor Party (Equivalent to democrats, but with a more pronouced trade union influence).
He contested the federal election in 2004 and was put forth as a potential prime minister. He lost in spectacular fashion.
If he had of become prime minister, he would have no doubt caused several international incidents.
A case in point was when he called our current prime minister an “ass licker”.
Many might think this guy is an uneducated hack, but he was one of the brightest policy minds in recent times.
However, I think many on T-Nation will enjoy this quote.
I feel that it eloquently reflects the thoughts that often permeate in the writings of T.C Louma. The quote is distinctly Australian:
“One of the saddest things I have seen in my lifetime has been the decline in Australian male culture, the loss of our larrikin language and values. This has been squeezed out of society by a number of powerful influences: the crisis in male identity brought about by changes in the workplace and family unit; the rise of left-feminism in the 1970s and 1980s, with its sanitising impact on public culture; and, more recently, the prominence of neo-conservatism and its timid approach to social behaviour and language. Australian mates and good blokes have been replaced by nervous wrecks, metrosexual knobs and toss-bags. I saw so many of them in politics, from all states, parties and factions. It’s the revenge of the nerds, John Howard-style.”
This guy has a new book coming out called “A conga line of suckholes”. Its an anthology of quotes.
