Question for the Obama Haters

Why is Russia so into capitalism now? Why is Colombia? Why is Peru? They’ve all had their fill of communism thankyouverymuch. Dollar-a-day poverty just isn’t that appealing.

It isn’t that a dollar-a-day quality of life is bad. No rational person could argue about having a cheaper quality of life if, in fact, it was a quality of life worth living. Money is not the end that we value but rather the means to obtain those ends that only capitalism can provide in the best possible means.

Capitalism actually makes stuff more abundant, cheaper, and better quality. Capitalist society is a constant striving for the ability to live on the least means necessary. We should all wish for a “dollar-a-day” quality of life.

One might think, perhaps hope, that after they get ass-fucked at the polls tomorrow, Republicans will engage in some soul-searching, that they?ll ask themselves whether and how they lost touch with the national mainstream. But my prediction is that this won?t happen any time soon.

Instead, the Republican rump, the party that?s left after the election, will be the party that attends Sarah Palin?s rallies, where crowds chant “Vote McCain, not Hussein!”

He is quoting someone I believe. Notice how is " ’ " is replaced with a “?”. This leads me to believe he is copy and pasting, as this has happened to me when I have done that.

There is one small problem with this. The people that did this work before. Think about what the carpenter’s union would do if the gov’t decided they were going to train people to be carpenters and find work for them. If the gov’t can do this, the market can do it better. We don’t need gov’t to provide jobs.

I am not talking about those types of jobs. And if these jobs are available, then the people can be hired into them instead of this, or any system.

I am talking about unskilled shit anyone can do, or easily trained to do. Things that benefit society, but that they have a hard time finding people to do. Or things that need to be done, but nobody is doing them.[/quote]

I do understand your point. I was just using carpentry as an example. The point is that if there is a need for labor, the free market will provide it. Training is great but someone will get the short end of the stick. Gov’t would be messing with supply and demand for that particular skill and driving the cost or wage of that skill down. It sounds like a good idea at face value is would once again be gov’t clouding market signals. This is a tough one, but if cost is the same they might as well just give them the money. Same impact on the economy.
