Protein for reducing inches

I got done with my workout today and went up to pay the owner for the day. As I was doing this he was talking to a woman that was working out. I heard her say that she wanted to lose weight/inches. The owner told her that she should’nt eat protein. I’m pretty sure he was wrong. First I know protein is essential for muscle growth and that muscle burns fat/reduces inches even at rest. I alson know muscle is higher in density than fat so therefore if you had equal masses of fat and muscle the fat would have more volume/inches than the muscle. Im pretty sure he gave her the wrong advice. Please give me some more info to strengthen my notion. Thanks.

He wants her to atrophy- lose muscle. That’s “weight”, although I’m sure she’d rather lose fat. This guy is a loser, either ignorant or evil. Must be ACE certified.
