Marriage is not “reserved” for anyone. We took the idea of marriage and made it into something that society agrees on. My question is who the fuck made the rules? And if people think the bible made the rules, they’re blind and lying to themselves.
My brother is gay and I love him and his partner to death. They have a much stronger union than many other couples I know. The whole idea that marriage is sacred is bullshit. Tons of straight marriages are so full of dysfuntion it’s scary.
No one has the right answer for everyone and the sooner people figure that out the better off they’re going to be.
Beauzo wrote:
Question: If being gay is “biological”, and therefore some “has no choice, but to be gay”, how would propagation of a species happen?
I believe it is a consious psychosocial decision. It is what someone feels comfortable doing that brings them to this answer that they are gay.
Many gay people say, "Are you crazy? Being gay is torture in society; but wouldn’t that make the choice even easier to be gay? They feel more comfort in the surroundings of other gay people?
What people choose do with their life is their business. Do I approve of it? No. But, I don’t condemn them for it either.
Many christian fanatics continuously pound the hammer, telling gay people they are going to hell and that they hate them, which I find very hipocritical seeing that Jesus taught us to love everyone, and leave the judging to him.
So my feelings are I don’t hate gay people, but I don’t approve of there lifestyle or the fact that they would try to mock the holy sacrement of marriage (which is only reserved for a man and a woman). On the other hand, if they want a civil union, that’s ok by me.
How do you know it’s not biological. The propagation of species argument only holds if ALL of a species is gay. But that’s not the case. In fact, it’s a small minority. There have been many suggested reasons. One is population control, and there have beens studies showing an increase homosexual behavior among animals in areas of high population density.
There are many other aruguments as the reason. But no one really knows WHY. There is evidence as to cause though and it’s believed that some is organic. I don’t believe it’s a conscious choice. The most recent psychological research believes that it’s an intersection of biology and environment. There have been some observable biological differences in gays, but environment is a factor too that can cause expression or shape development. There are identical twins where one is homosexual and the other is (allegedly) heterosexual.
I have ohter reasons for not believing it to be a choice. I’ve never had the conversation with a gay person, but I’ve never actually heard of a gay person saying it’s a choice. I have a very hard time believing that it’s some mass conspiracy and that they’re all lying for some unknown, undiscernable purpose.
As far as the marriage stance, I agree. I support civil unions. Partners should have the same benefits as heterosexuals. But just as it’s not religion’s job to tell the government how to run the country, it’s not the government’s job to tell the various religions what they can and cannot sanction.

Agreed. But if the Catholic Church, say, does not want to recognize gay marriage, it’s no one’s place to force them to. Everyone has the right to agree or disagree with that choice, and if they find a religion irreconcilable with their beliefs, they are free not to practice it.

Well God, You make all people in your image, and some people come out gay (or become gay, if you will). I’m not saying you are gay God, but perhaps you are tolerant of gay people because afterall, you did make them.
Furthermore God, you are an all loving being. I don’t recall ever hearing that you are “A being that loves all straight people.”, but maybe that got lost in the english translation of the bible.
I don’t understand this mentality that gay people are “wrong”. I’ll concede that it is abnormal, by definition, to be gay… but I’ll never declare that its wrong. What about straight people engaging in anal sex? Do they go to hell, I mean surely you can’t bear a child that way, heathens.
Liberate your minds people, does everything need to be spoon fed to you to form your opinion?
(In my best God voice, deep and firm)
I only made Adam & Eve in my image, afterwards mankind took care of reproduction, I tolerate all people because I love my creation, I won’t tolerate sin, homosexuality, fornication, adultery, drunkennes, incest, it’s all sin, I don’t separate it into categories, but don’t worry, I provided a way to remove sin, His name is Jesus, he took all the sin of the world, if you call upon His name I will forgive your sins and with my help you can live in relationship with me, I understand you’re not perfect, but it’s ok, if you persevere in my ways when I look at you, I don’t see your own righteousness, I see Jesus’ righteousness. That too.
If you open your mind wide enough, you might realise that other species have been known to hump their own memebers of the same sex, and even dolphins, who are one of the few who have sex for pleasure.
Why care about what 2 guys or 2 women (or any number combination of men and/or women) do with eachother’s bodies?
It’s not like they’re coming into your house and getting it on on your dining room table while you’re feeding your kids.
Two guys just kissed in San Francisco. It didn’t hurt me one bit.
Regardless of your opinions on this issue, using the examples of animals to justify any behavior is an argument that suffers from extreme intellectual poverty.
Some animals eat their young, no one in their right mind thinks its okay to eat babies.
Animals physically eliminate rivals over females all the time. No one in their right mind thinks you have a right to murder the guy hitting on the woman you’re interested in.
Many animals just crap wherever they’re standing. Convenient sure, but the office will stink after a while.

Well, I know of many other mammals who don’t crap close to where they eat or sleep. I guess I meant animals that are more closely related to us who have simmilar traits as us.
Many animals do what you say, but many others don’t. We’ve evolved and became civilized because it works for us to keep us alive.
It works for other animals to leave their weakest behind, or kill off the previous Alpha male’s young because it ultimately makes their species stronger and survive better/longer.
Why does a person get a lesser sentence when he kills the guy that’s screwing his wife? I guess it’s understood why someone would kill over a woman.
I was making the case against it not being “natural”, that is why I brought animals into it. Afterall, we are part of nature, so can anything we do ever be unnatural?

I’m considering starting a colony on mars. I’ve considered burning Harvard to the ground, because clearly, Dartmouth is better. what the F does it matter if they are considering going there or not? And lets suppose they go! Do they graduate? In the top 20%? Gay or not, “Considering” to do anything is a horrible argument. I considered quitting working out today, good thing I didn’t or I’d be a pussy. I also considered ignoring that somebody was patting their friend on the back by bragging how he was considering to go to Harvard.
Well I’ve got a friend, and I’m considering whether or not I’m going to take my car to him for him to change my oil. i think i might listen to NPR right now, i think “all things considered” is on.

Are human beings merely animals?
Part of the reason certain sorts of Christians, Jews, ancient Stoics etc. oppose a variety of things is that we believe God has endowed us with a free will wherewith to choose whether or not to conform to “nature” in its highest, or religious, sense.
If you believe that there is no God, or that God has not communicated His will to mankind, moral language has no force. You may condemn my close-mindedness as immoral, but if you have no standard higher than human, its just your code against mine.
So everything is reduced to an issue of power. And if its just an issue of power, I’ll do what it takes to make my side the winning side. I’ll vote for what I have to vote for, support who I need to support, do what I have to do consequences to others be damned.
Look at the strongest civilizations in history. The strongest civilizations, from the Roman Republic to Samurai Japan, have been the ones with some of the most unyielding codes of ethics and homogenous views. If “civilization works” to help us survive, we ought to cast our lots in with the civilization most likely to wind up on top.
You know, I am a Bible believer and the Bible (if anyone’s read it. Although people like to assume they know what God likes and dislikes, we don’t know unless we read it…)
I still have a sense of humor and I found the post (the original post) to be funny. Good post!
