I do my best to avoid insults and the like when discussing issues with those of opposing viewpoints. A statement such as the one above pushes me to my limits.

Do you in any sense of the word believe our public schools to be FREE? Do the education fairy’s just wave a magic wand and schools and books and teachers appear?

It is MY tax dollars that are used to pay for the schools. If I had to CHOICE as to how to spend my tax dollars, for example school vouchers, I would opt for private school, as would most parents. This is why we are, for the most part, not given the choice.

I live in Tennessee, smack in the middle of the Bible belt, as southern as you get. I have never, ever, heard any of the three derogatives used above in regards to the president. It does seem, however, that when I have heard any race related derogatives associated with Obama they are always from the lips of a liberal.

I live in SW Florida, rural, and my experience is the same. Maybe it’s an urban thing. But, it’s besides the point, as noone has said anything like that. So, it’s like it came out of the blue.

Furthermore, Irish shrugged off his treatment of Palin as a comparison. But, it IS exactly the same. If I’ve heard someone call her a “bitch,” or even a “cunt,” do I get to imply that others are sexist? And besides, the posters here have history. The same kind of opposition would’ve surfaced for a white lefty President. Kerry, Hillary, Edwards, whatever. Do we really think the Obama detractors here are suddendly detractors because he’s black?
