Turn over times vary depending on how backed up that lab is along with the location and travel time it takes the samples. I know the VA in Phx, sends my blood work all over, San Diego and Houston along with some being done locally. The normal turn time is 2 weeks.
Well I just heard from my Doc. I don’t have the results in hand but I will post them Tuesday after my appointment. What they did tell me was that my Test is SHIT! I had a hard time understanding over the phone (that whole hearing thing), but the number for test was either 214 or 240. Either way it’s bad…sooooooo I wil be going to my appointment on Tuesday to discuss therapy options and get a prescription. They told me that Test E was on the table. Whether or not self administered injections will be covered by the insurance is yet to be determined, but I talked to the pharmacist and he told me that a 10ml vial of 200mg/ml test e was only 84 dollars…
If I go on a 50mg twice a week then that would last 20 weeks. If I go 100mg twice a week then it would last 10 weeks. Not very expensive even if I have to pay out of pocket…From what I have read on here, I’m leaning toward the twice a day regimen. Try to keep AI’s out of the picture altogether by keeping 250mg a week or under…
I’ll post a pic of my labs when I get them Tuesday.
Thanks again to all you guys for you advice.
Side note…My Free Test was 9 (I think that was what they said…confirm tuesday) so that’s not too bad I don’t think?
Ok so I got my bloods in hand. After an hour of discussions and back and forth, I finally negotiated the following TRT regimen to start.
Self Administered so I can control the frequency of injections…(they didn’t want me to but I insisted)
100mg / wk Test E. I determine frequency. (Thinking Monday and Thursday 50mg split)
After 8 weeks they want to run bloods again and if everything looks on track we’ll cruise from there.
Wanted to get some opinions on this compared to my bloods. Also, the pharmacist doesn’t have the Test E in stock so he’ll have to order it in. While talking to him, he said he has the Test Cyp in stock and can call the dr and she if they would be willing to change to that. I know the price is significantly lower for the cyp ($84 bucks vs $160). So I I’m thinking of leaning toward this option. Would this be wise or is it worth it stick with the Test E?
Here’s the bloods they ran. I know it’s not complete on the hormone profile, but I’m dealing with a PCP after all.
You should probably do some Google homework, but I’m pretty sure Test Cyp and Test Eth and basically the same
Fasting glucose is high, get an insulin sensitivity test, if that comes in impaired go for a glucose tolerance test, diabetes is not something to mess around with. I have impaired glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity! Anyhow check your shbg, although this hormone can wildly fluctuate there seems to be a distinct correlation between low SHBG and impaired insulin sensitivity.
Test E vs C there’s about a 1 percent difference between the amount of pure hormone per 100mg (it’s like 69mg/100mg vs 70mg/100mg or something along the lines of that, with test E being the slightly stronger variant. Go for whichever one is cheaper
Your testosterone levels are in the shitter, is there a reason for this? It is unlikely you are naturally THAT low without some underlying pathology. Are your low T symptoms a recent thing or have they been around you’re whole life?
It seems like I’ve always had to work twice as hard as most guys get even half to three quarters of the results they got, but the other stuff, labido, anxiety, depression, lethargy, etc…started 2-3 years ago. I thought I was just in a funk but I finally decided to get tested and see if there was an underlying issue.
I have a lab order to get filled today because my pcp wants to check LH and FSH so I can’t start pinning until get the blood drawn for that today. Hopefully by tonight I’ll have everything together to give myself my first ever pin of 50mg Test E or cyp, depending on what the dr and pharm settles on.
Just did my first ever pin of 50mg Test cyp. The injection went really smooth and I barely felt it. I feel a little pressure in my head now about 30 minutes out like a small headache coming on. I’m sure (or at least I hope) it’s the adrenaline because I was kind of nervous. I think the complete lack of PIP was due to the fact that I only injected .25ml because my vial is 200mg/ml. Gonna give my body about an hour to settle in and then go hit my evening workout.
Question…Since I’m running such a small volume per injection, I would have thought the the pharmacists would have given me a 1ml syringe. He gave me 3ml…Should I go with a smaller syringe when I get more? Just seems like for single use at such a low volume, 3ml is kind of a waste?
I believe the smaller syringes are going to be more accurate for smaller dose shots. Are you injecting twice per week? You might hit whats called a honeymoon phase too. What size needle and site did you use?
That’s what I was thinking too…and yes…twice a week. I started this evening and will pin the left quad Monday morning.
I used a 23g 1 inch needle and pinned in my right quad.
Yeh I hit a honeymoon phase when I started injectable TRT, my honeymoon phase was when I felt “okay” then went back to feeling shit, 400ng/dl is bound to feel better than 100-250. Currently I feel like superman so that’s great
@bmbrady77 you can always back fill slin pins, that’s how I get my exact dose. I’ve shot primoteston through a slin pin, takes about 5mins but it works. As to the headache and nervousness, probably anxiety related. I never got nervous, I was well versed in how to perform intramusular injections by the time I was on an injectable preparation of testosterone and I’m one of those people whose never had a problem with needles, blood or any of that fun stuff. Hopefully you’ll respond well to a 100mg dose like most people do and you’ll feel like a new male SPECIMEN! How is your BP?
BP was a little high yesterday but this morning it was much better. Systolic was a tad low at 114, but the diastolic was 78…
Took the wife out for a date night last night and ate a little too much. Had trouble going to sleep last night and woke up this morning with a slight elevation in BP (190/30) and a blood glucose level of 118!! Been sticking to mostly low glycemic carbs today (and keeping even those to a minimum), no sugars, and if I decide to have a drink after while it will be straight whiskey with sparkling water and a splash of mio flavoring. No carbs whatsoever in that so it shouldn’t effect blood glucose levels. Will see how the fasting glucose looks in the morning.
I have diabetes on both sides of my family tree and it’s looking like I’m borderline so I’m really going to have to be careful with sugars and carbs.
Question, I have read that low carb diets can cause increasing SHBG, which is not ideal for me starting TRT. Is there any truth to that and if so, is there a happy medium to keeping blood glucose in check and still stabilize everything else while on TRT?
