PR in rack pull

I pulled 425 from just above my knees today. Not alot of weight for some people, but the most weight I have ever used in a lift. WS is definitely an interesting and fun way to lift.

I actually think that I could have lifted a few more pounds, but my grip was slipping. Does anybody else use a clean grip while they are doing 3-5 reps and switch to the mixed grip when they are above 90% and in the 1 rep zone?

In any pulling workouts, I personally always start with a double overhand grip and switch when my grip starts slipping.

Good job on the PR. I too train WS style. What is your rack pull compared to your max deadlift? I use a mix grip almost always, because I have very small hands and the bas always slips out if I dont.

Chalk up and hook grip. It works!

Andrew1, my max deadlift(a few months ago) was 245. I think it’s more than that now because of all the low back and hamstring work. The PR today was huge for me, I had been maxing at 365, when I had the bright idea to try the mixed grip that I used to train with. It’s funny sometimes how you forget the little things you learned before.

I think I am going to test my max deadlift in a few weeks. My short term goal is to get it to 315.

How long have you been training WS?

Chalk? Won’t that mess up my gloves? LOL just kidding. How does chalk stand up if you sweat alot?

The chalk will hold up fine. If it comes off, just chalk up again. Or
f#c% the chalk and just hook grip.

Towel dry your hands and re-chalk between sets. Although I’ll be flammed for this, there is no reason not to use straps when you are repping out on pulls. I don’t have data to back this up, but I always felt that hand fatigue stresses the CNS more then other body parts. Perhaps because our sense of touch is highly developed in our fingers?

this is random but how the hell do to get to the forums main page. I need directions with this new website

but its looking good

oh and nice job on the lift
