Saint Thomas - or any of the related islands… went their for a friends wedding (very small destination wedding) was awesome… you can barter with everyone from the hotel to the restraunts and street vendors… our hotel was 400 a night (very nice suite) and after the first night i went down and bartered with them for 10 minutes and got 3 more days for 650…
You can get rum there for 6 bucks a bottle and honduran cigars for 2-8 bucks… (35-40 a box)… but a gallon of milk will set you back a minimum of 9 bucks…
The 1 day sailing cruise to swim with the dolphins was amazing, and we liked it so much we also did the 1/2 day cruise to swim with the giant turtles…
I would recomend spending 1 day taking taxies to get used to how they drive (left side of road in left hand drive car) and then rent a jeep… the taxies there have set prices and will rape you if you want to go more then 1 place a day… for my gf and i to travel to 2 places a day it was cheaper to rent a jeep… also, if you rent a jeep, they know your tourist so they cut you some slack… the beaches were great and the town was a ton of fun to shop in… i got a really nice DSLR camera for 30% less then it costs in the states before tax… and the GF got a bunch of jewlery (including some nice pearls) for 1/10th of what they would cost in the states… also got her some locally made dresses for 15 bucks (bartered down from the asking of 30)…
either that or an all inclusive somewhere…
