I’m vaguely interested in what the masses think of the DWI incident.
Years ago, if you didn’t hurt anyone, people didn’t get so worked up over driving after drinking.
During the worst years of the last Recession, when there were a hundred applicants for every good job, a DUI was like an automatic disqualifyer. Regular people followed employers really began to look down on it.
Whats the current stance?
I definitely think less of him than I would sans DUI, but nowhere near considerably less in the context of pols.
From the staffing industry, it’s not a “deal-breaker” per se. But if our clients got Joe Schmo and Joe Blow’s information in front of them, the DUI is easily tiebreaker material. This is assuming a “victimless” DUI ala Beto.
Virtually all of the truck driver positions we fill it’s an instant DQ though. I BELIEVE the same goes for forklift (etc) drivers, but don’t quote me on that.

For me? It’s a moral blight. On US roads, perhaps less so. Y’all have 1000 mile straight roads, especially out in Texas.
On Irish and British roads, we have jack knife turns every 5 minutes. We put drunk drivers in the dock.

Anyway, I don’t want to derail and make this thread about Trump, but in assessing Democratic candidates, there’s a bunch off-limits now to criticize them over as disqualifying. I touched on inappropriate behavior toward women above. Lying? As in Warren being disqualified because of her previous falsehoods about ancestry to get ahead in her career? Nope, that’s been deemed ok - Trump made a career out of it, and is setting new records in that space now. And it’s cool. And on and on. That stuff won’t stick because it’ll be thrown in Republicans’ faces over and over.
The (only) appeal of Biden is his traditional liberalism and his advantage with working class .voters. That’s a pretty strong case honestly, but it’s fascinating and weird that he’s alone in carrying that torch for the Dems. Shows how much the party has changed.

Well, yeah. Trump and the field will in no way be judged the same way. The Democratic field will be thinned out by the Democratic primary voters. Not by Trump and his minions.
It wasn’t Hilary supporters that eliminated low energy Jed, Lyin’ Ted or Little Marco in '16. The Republican primary voters eliminated them.

A fair point indeed. The counterpoint is that the Republican party doesn’t have SJW’s as keepers of their orthodoxy. If you hold candidates to SJW standards then nobody passes that test.
