Oh, I don’t remember the will-o-wisp. What weapon did you use? You probably need silver or magical… (I think I didn’t do that quest, I didn’t bother much with the god stuff most of the time).

Picked up CoD4: Modern Warfare last night…best game I bought so far. Lots of action and the graphics and gameplay are amazing!
Oblivion is kind of boring me at this point, there’s too much running around questing and not enough killing shit. I also HATE that health does not regenerate slowly at any kind of rate on its own. That actually pisses me off about Fallout 3 as well. I’m considering taking Oblivion to my local GameStop and trading it in and using the money to get the Assassin’s Creed (found another GameStop that has it for $19. They had 3 copies so I didn’t fret about getting it that day.)
Imo Oblivion gets tiring fast… Due to the auto-leveling of enemies you never feel like you actually achieved something when getting great new armor or defeating some high-level enemy… Cause it doesn’t help you any more than the last armor did and the huge beast doesn’t feel that much harder or easier than that tiny goblin shaman you killed ages ago. You just sort of keep up with the enemies/they keep up with you. Unless you down-regulate the difficulty, which will make the game pathetically easy…
That’s been my issue with Oblivion and some of other RPGs I’ve played lately. I don’t see the point of having your enemies scale to your level. Like you said, when they do that, there’s no point to leveling or getting better armor or weapons. You’ll have the same difficulty killing the guy as you did before.
Half the fun of RPGs is when you get to a higher level and you pretty much walk around like a god, stomping things that used to be difficult to kill earlier in the game.
I wouldn’t mind a system where only some, but definitely not all, of the enemies scaled to your level to keep you on your toes. Account for the fact that maybe some enemies are capable of getting stronger as the game goes on, but certain types of enemies should be ‘dumb’ and easier and easier to kill as your skill level improves.[/quote]
I completely agree, really takes away from the main reason I really like RPGs in the first place. I love becoming an elite equipped Warrior and just walking around feeling invincible to everything. 1 slash killing stuff, standing there taking a beating from tons of newb mobs taking no damage because my defense skills have gotten so high, etc.

CC - how do I kill a will-o-wisp? lol
Last night I was doing the Azusa or Azura whatever daedra lord quest and I couldn’t figure out how to kill the damn will-o-wisp to get its dust or whatever for the offering. I got so bored I killed the people worshiping at the shrine for no reason other than pure boredom.
I agree the Kvatch mission was fun…probably the only really fun one so far.
All in all CoD4 > Fallout 3 > Oblivion for real. I’m thinking tomorrow or Friday depending if GameStop is closed tomorrow my Oblivion is going to magically turn into Assassin’s Creed.
BTW - Whoever mentioned the gamestop edge card…where I live the card is 10%/10% not 15%. Forgot to ask if its still $15, shit better only be $10. lol
Cod4 has one main issue: Unless you like to play it in multiplayer, then it’s a one-shot thing… You play through (took me what, maybe 4 hours?) and that’s it.
Definitely prefer it on the Pc, too… Easier modding and much better controls (aiming… More fun… No need to tap the aim button all the time to make use of the autoaim… I think you don’t even get that on pc).
But yeah, it was a damn great game. A little annoying (defending the tank and then advancing from there was a bit of a bitch imo, and the mission where you shoot out of the helicopter sucks on highest difficulty because there’s no way in hell that you can avoid getting hit) at times, but otherwise great.
Oh, spoiler alert:
I thought it sucked that Gaz died at the end and that you don’t find out what happens after you get rescued:)
/spoiler.

I believe I’ve already told you why I can’t build a gaming PC…I’ll end up playing Darkfall Online or something or upcoming MMORPG and my life will be ruined! lol Fuck that!
Oh and yes, I do plan to play it in multiplayer quite a bit after I finish the missions. =) I’d like to get CoD 5 too eventually, but that will wait a while. lol
Edit: About the wisps. I tried to kill it using my blade 2hander I got from that cloud keep whatever where you take Martin. Uhh I don’t have any magical weapons, I’ll have to try with silver. Actually fuck it I don’t think I care enough to even try, lol. If everything really just keeps leveling with me all the way to the top and I never am going to get that badass warrior feeling what’s the point. Damn and I can’t even imagine how much its going to suck healing when I get a shitload of HPs. It already sucks and I’m not even high level yet or anything lol.
How ridiculous would it feel to be high level walking around and the same damn wolves from level 1 are still attacking me, and landing hits…ghey to the max!

The dai-katana or whatever that is in Cloudkeep is neither silver nor magical, so it can’t kill certain enemies (like the wisp).
CoD5… It was nicely done, sure , BUT OH GOD NOT WW2 AGAIN!
It’s the same weapons again (mostly… And WW2 weapons other than the mg42 are just boring as hell), the same Uniforms, the same everything…
I almost fell asleep playing that shit. COD 3 already sucked, but this…
They should have either made CoD 5 some sort of Sci-Fi tactical combat game (within reason) or continued with the CoD 4 theme or maybe a Vietnam themed game (not that many good ones out there yet) or so… But no, it had to be WW2 again.
There’s nothing in CoD 5 that you haven’t seen in previous CoD’s before as well as Medal of Honor… Sure, some interesting missions (playing sniper for the old russion officer dude and being hunted through that building with flamethrowers and all, but still…
I bet the second you look away, the Nazi KI soldiers start complaining about having to fight the same damn war over and over again.
At least brothers in arms had some new game elements (not sure how the latest BIA plays, but it’s likely more interesting than yet another WW2 COD with the same game mechanics we’ve seen 3 times before).

Yeah I know…I’m really over the game though I think. Just gunna play CoD4 and Fallout 3. And I’ll trade Oblivion for Assassin’s Creed - that sounds like it should be way more fun and more action filled. There really isn’t enough constant killing in Oblivion. And even if there was I wouldn’t be able to keep killing nonstop because I’d have to stop and spend 10 minutes trying to heal myself up every few fights.

If you want constant non-stop killing, may I suggest you pick up Ninja Gaiden Sigma?

I’ll look into it…I don’t need constant non-stop, but Oblivion is really lacking in comparison to most RPGs I’ve played. I don’t run into enough shit to kill randomly as I’m traveling like I’m used to in most RPGs. Which means leveling slower…which is lame. But it doesn’t matter how fast I level since everything is the same anyway apparently! lol

Well, in NGS you’ll run into shit to kill very often, although initially it’ll be shit that kills you. The game is brutally hard. What’s great about it, though, is that it’s never “cheap” - if you die, it’s because you weren’t good enough and didn’t handle the combat correctly.
It’s not an RPG; it’s similar to God of War or Devil May Cry. Platforming and simple puzzles to solve (find key, orb, statue; place it at spot X to open door, etc.) but the emphasis is heavily on combat. Fighting the boss is done through the normal combat engine, no “press the big flashing on-screen button” to go through a pre-scripted cinematic.
There are tons of youtube videos on that game, check a few out and see if it might be up your alley…

No. My house is wired with Cat5. ![]()
If it is wireless, what kind of connection are you running, i.e. a, g, n? You’re going to have to explain that feat.
Did a test with my laptop, and streaming HD doesn’t work well wirelessly. It’s a “g”… I guess it can’t sustain the necessary bandwith. Everything else streams fine, although I never watch whole movies on the laptop.

I’d like to wire it up but I really don’t want a 50ft wire running from the computer room to my bedroom.
Guess I’ll have to get a n router with adapter when I get some more money.

Dude, I think you’re confusing RPG with hack’n’slash “RPG”'s here…
Baldur’s Gate vs. Diablo, so to speak.
But yeah, not much atmosphere in Oblivion/FA3 when you just occasionally stumble over some random enemy…

No I’m not. I’m comparing to EverQuest, EverQuest 2, etc…lol Those are MMORPGs, but still.
Anyway ya, doesn’t really matter.
Finally went on New Years day to GameStop and picked up Assassin’s Creed for $19 bucks. Checked the disc when he gave it to me, not a single scratch at all. Whoever had that game before took damn good care of it and I am thankful. Game is pretty damn fun so far, pulled me away from COD4 for a couple hours. I can see though how it is a bit repetitive.
I don’t mind it much, although I do get a tad tired of sneaking around slow and I tend to start sprinting everywhere because I’m impatient and then I just assassinate the guards if they get all nosy on me.

Use the rooftops. Less crowded, more fun. Guards can be pesky at the beginning, but once you get the throwing knives, they’re a minor inconvenience.
Playstation 3 has better options but xbox is half the price. I may start buying games on the computer instead and just buy a controller for it.
I have had a xbox 360 for a year or two now and feel it’s one of the best consoles ever. I got a PS3 before christmas as it was £100 off for that day so I thought it’s a bargain considering it’s a blu-ray player and a games consoles. However after playing the PS3 for a bit I actually regret buying it. Microsoft are buying lots of PS3 exculsives and they don’t have the vast amount of games I enjoy compared to the 360. Personally i’d always go for the xbox 360 as I think its better in every which way for gaming purpose (except the odd people online that lag) as right now the PS3 is collecting dust and a waste of time compared to the mighty 360. Just my oppinion and what most of my friends have now go but to stop being so biased I will let you know one of my friends has a PS3 and seems very happy with it.
My 360 was fun while it lasted…which was a little under 2 years. The first problem I had was the disc player broke…one week after the warranty expired of course. I ended up taking the console apart and fixing that myself. Everything was fine for about a year until I got the “red ring of death”. I’m not messing around with it anymore, just gonna try and sell all my games. I’m sure Microsoft has fixed alot of those problems with the newer versions, but it just pisses me off that they would sell the initial product with such shitty quality. I’ll probably pick up a PS3 in the future…or start reading books.

Wanna sell the PS3?
The most amazing thing about Assassin’s Creed is the amount of controls, all accessible by way of a modifier key.
That was definitely an amazing feat, but not necessarily intuitive or elegant. Just commendable.
