By definition, that is an oxymoron. People who call themselves liberals may be ignorant, but a true liberal by definition is someone who is open to new opinions or information. You see, there is no list of liberal beliefs that they all subscribe too, the principle of liberalism is not a doctrine but is actually a mind set. I’m not trying to insinuate that the classic definitions I have provided are in common use, I am telling you that these are the actual definitions of the terms and that people misunderstand or misuse them. Yeah chief, the words liberal or conservative in modern use refer to a particular doctrine of beliefs pertaining to social and political issues, but the true meaning of these words do not define any doctrine, they define a mental attitude and mind set. Like you so foolishly mentioned, in another country the term conservative would imply a completely different set of beliefs than the conservative ones here. If this is true, than the definition you have provided is utterly inferior to the one I have provided jackass.
This concept of what actually distinguishes the conservative and liberal mind sets is not new. Actually, my father wrote his thesis on it at Dartmouth. I’m sorry if you don’t get it, but I do.
